Brisbane Lightning Women are built to compete.

Competing at the highest level of women’s ice hockey in Australia, the Brisbane Lightning take on the nation’s best in the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL).

Established in 2006 as the Brisbane Goannas, our club has grown into the Brisbane Lightning,  driven by a passion for the game, a commitment to excellence and a mission to push women’s ice hockey forward.

Our goal is simple: compete at the highest level, develop elite female talent and create a pathway for the next generation of players to chase their ambitions on the ice.

The AWIHL features a 20-game home-and-away season, with the Lightning going head-to-head against teams from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide before battling it out in the finals for a shot at the championship.
