Why Row?

HEALTH & FITNESS

Rowing is widely regarded as an excellent physical exercise and is very effective and uses a large percentage of the body’s muscles. Rowing provides excellent muscle toning and muscle strengthening and development as part of an overall fitness regime.

It also provides good aerobic exercise assisting blood circulation and strong breathing development.

COMPETITION

Rowing can be social where you row regularly with others but not compete, or you may row in competitions. Rowing competitively is a great motivator to improving your fitness levels and meeting other members of the club. Competitive rowing is possible at any age through school age regattas, open regattas or masters regattas (over 27 yrs).

TEAMWORK

Rowing is without doubt an essential team sport.

Being part of a rowing crew, whether social or competitive, requires a team approach and discipline to achieve the best output for the crew and the particular exercise piece. Teamwork also develops a strong social bonding and leads to many valuable and lasting friendships “outside the boat”.

SOCIAL

New friendships are made within the club by participating in rowing crews, attending social functions, being part of Club working committees, and attending regattas at which the club is competing.

Regatta attendance is a wonderful way of supporting the Club and meeting many interesting people from other clubs and walks of life.
