Welcome to SailBYC

SailBYC is Bellerive Yacht Club's sail training school. The school runs dinghy and keelboat training, and will soon offer powerboat handling training as well. Bellerive Yacht Club is an accredited Discover Sailing Centre, and offers a range of Australian Sailing courses, along with other bespoke courses. 

Dinghy training:

• With 10 Optimist dinghies, we run the very popular Tackers program

• With 6 Pacer dinghies, we run Start Sailing for teenagers and Adult learn to sail programs

Keelboat training:

• With a Mumm 36 keelboat, we run the Australian Sailing Keelboat courses, starting with Start Crewing and Start Helming. We run the boat in twilight and weekend racing, providing a pathway for new sailors to build their skills and join the Bellerive Yacht Club sailing community.

We run courses:

• Sea Safety and Survival- required for crew on offshore races
• radio operators' courses, both Short and Long Range Operators Certificate of Proficiency, required to operate a marine radio
• introduction to diesel engines and maintenance for keelboat owners
• introduction to navigation
• weather for sailors
