*Our Thursday sessions provide a quieter, more relaxed training environment for athletes who may find larger group settings overwhelming or prefer a less structured approach. These sessions are parent-led rather than formally coached, with families encouraged to participate and assist with setting up and packing away equipment.
What Should My Child Bring?
- Comfortable sports clothing and suitable running shoes.
- A clearly labelled water bottle.
- A hat and sunscreen for warmer weather.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to give things a go!
What Happens When We Arrive?
Arrive a few minutes before your allocated session and make your way to the training area. If you're attending for the first time, introduce yourself to one of our committee members, who can help direct your child to the correct age group. Our sessions focus on developing skills, improving technique, building confidence and, most importantly, having fun!
Do Parents Need to Stay?
Parents and guardians are required to remain at the Centre during training sessions. For Thursday's parent-led inclusive sessions, parent or guardian participation is an important part of supporting the activities and maintaining a welcoming environment. Please follow any supervision requirements communicated by the Centre.

When Does Competition Start?
Our regular Friday night competition begins at 5:00pm, with a group warm-up commencing at 4:40pm. Some events, including scheduled Walks and High Jump, may commence earlier at 4:30pm. Families should check the weekly competition program for their athlete's scheduled events and arrival requirements.
What Events Will My Child Do?
Athletes participate in a variety of track and field events suited to their age group, including running, jumping, throwing and, where scheduled, race walking. Our Centre operates rotating competition programs, meaning athletes experience different combinations of events throughout the season.
The events your child completes each week will depend on their age group and the scheduled program.
How Does Competition Work?
Each age group follows its scheduled competition program, participating in the events allocated for that evening. Our volunteers and officials help run each event, explain procedures and encourage athletes throughout the competition. Athletes should listen carefully to instructions, remain with their allocated group when required and treat fellow competitors, officials and volunteers with respect.
What Should My Child Bring?
Before leaving home, make sure your athlete has:
- Their approved Baldivis Athletics Centre top, singlet or crop singlet
- Plain black shorts or other approved competition shorts
- Their registration bib securely attached to the front of their uniform
- Enclosed running shoes
- A water bottle, hat and sunscreen
- Warm clothing for cooler evenings
Correct uniform and bib requirements are important for competition results, records and awards eligibility.
Do Parents Need to Help?
Absolutely! Baldivis Athletics Centre is proudly run by volunteers, and parent assistance is essential to keeping our Friday night competitions running smoothly. There are plenty of ways to get involved, and no previous athletics experience is necessary. Whether you're helping at an event, assisting with equipment or supporting other Centre activities, every contribution makes a difference!
Parent Help Rosters
Families can nominate for available parent-help duties through our roster system. Guidance is provided, so you don't need to know anything about athletics to lend a hand. If you're rostered for a duty, please arrive 15 minutes before your shift and sign in at the Parent Help Sign-In Table, located opposite the Announcer's Desk in the spectator area.
Centre Championships Eligibility
Families are required to complete a minimum of seven (7) parent-help credits throughout the season for their athlete to be eligible to participate in Centre Championships. Families should keep track of their completed duties and ensure they meet the requirements before the end of the regular competition season. Remember, our Centre wouldn't be possible without the wonderful families who volunteer their time. Every little bit of help counts!
Are Results and Personal Bests Recorded?
Absolutely! Every performance is an opportunity for athletes to track their progress, improve their skills and celebrate their achievements. Results are recorded throughout the season, allowing athletes to work towards new Personal Bests (PBs) and see how far they've come.
