FAQs

When are social trainings?
Our social training sessions are currently held at Burchnall Sports Centre (in St. Peter's College) every Wednesday from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm and at Adelaide Uni Magill Campus Gym every Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm throughout the university year. Our Burchnall Sports Centre session consists of 1 court for focused, skill-based coaching for beginners or those looking to refine their skills, 2 king-of-the-court courts for beginner and advanced players, and, lastly, 1 court for our state league players. Our Magill Campus Gym sessions feature 3 matchplay courts.

How sign up for socials?
To attend our social training, you must either:

- Hold a current AUVC membership and then sign up for the weekly session (via the Events section or the link emailed to members)

- Purchase a $5 single-session pass (also via the Events section)

Is there a competitive league?
Our club strives to enter teams into the SA Volleyball League, a competitive league that is played on weekends. Trials are usually held at the beginning of the university year, around Jan-Feb. The commitment to the team usually includes 2 x 2-hour training sessions throughout the week and games on the weekend. We are currently planning to have 8 teams play in the 2026 season: 5 Men's Teams (Div 1-5) and 3 Women's Teams (Div 1-3).

What if I have never played volleyball before?
Don't worry! Our training sessions are split into courts for beginners, intermediates, and advanced players. We cater for all skill levels, so there will be a place where you feel comfortable. Our coaches on the beginner's court will guide you on the basics and run drills during the first part of training.

How much does a membership cost, and what does it include?
An AUVC membership currently stands at $65 for Adelaide University students. Extra fees apply to non-students. An Adelaide Uni Sport membership is also required as per university policy. The membership includes social training on Wednesdays and Thursdays for most of the year, and member prices for pub crawls, quiz nights, and more! It also includes the right to vote during our AGM held at the tail end of the year. We are doing our best to give back to our members and encourage participation in these events.

I am under 18 years old - am I able to join the club?
Unfortunately, AUVC is a university club. This means that all club members must be of age 18 or older to be eligible to join.

Where can I find updates?
Updates about events, news and more information can be found on our Instagram page (@auvolleyball). Please ensure that you follow the page (not the group) for further information about what is ongoing with the club.

What if I need to leave early or am unable to attend training?
You are not obligated to join every training - you may come and go as you please. Our club is primarily a social environment, and we understand that some may not be able to join us for every training throughout the year. You may also leave whenever you please. We only check memberships and attendance at the entrance to ensure valid entry.

What if I am having problems with purchasing an AUVC membership?
You must first purchase an AUSport membership, followed by an AUVC membership. If this does not fix the problem, you must contact AUSport directly as they handle website and store purchases.

Can I refund my purchases?
Under the Australian Consumer Law, we do not provide refunds if you have changed your mind about your purchase after a set date. However, we will refund items or services that are faulty, do not match their description, or are cancelled by AUVC.
