Para Kyorugi - Competition Specific Information

 

Para Kyorugi Competition Rules

Latest version of the World Para Taekwondo Competition Rules will be used.

The competitions in the K41 and K44 Sport Classes will be held in a single elimination tournament system.

The duration of the contest shall be one round of five (5) minutes with thirty seconds (30) timeout for each athlete. In the case of a tied score after the completion of the five (5) minute round, a round of one (1) minute will be conducted as the Golden round, after a one (1) minute rest period. No timeout can be taken during the Golden Round.

Each coach will be allowed to call for one (1) one (1) minute timeout at any time during the one round contest.

The duration of contest may be adjusted to four (4) minutes or three (3) minutes upon the decision of the Technical Delegate for the pertinent Championships.

Win by Point Gap (PTG) 30 points will be implemented throughout the championships.

Para Kyorugi Sport Classes

The following events are applicable, the Kyorugi K40 Sport Classes (K41 & K44) are for athletes with physical impairment.

Para Kyorugi International Classification

Kyorugi K40  

International Classification of all Kyorugi (K40 Sport Classes) athletes will take place on Wednesday 18 September 2024.  

All teams should prepare their travel for their athletes to be available for International Classification on these dates.  

WT Para Taekwondo Department will publish the Classification time schedule after the deadline expires.  

The details on each sport class can be found in the WT Athlete Classification Rules on the WT website.  

Medical Diagnostics Form through World Taekwondo Classification System (WTCS)  

Medical Diagnostic Form must be submitted for any NEW (N) or REVIEW (R) athlete registered for the tournament. Deadline for uploading MDFs to the WTCS is on the registration deadline (Jan 26). If no MDF has been submitted by this time the athlete will not be called for classification and cannot compete.  

Following IPC Guidelines on data protection concerning athletes and personal classification information, World Taekwondo has in connection with IPC created the World Taekwondo Classification System (WTCS). 

World Taekwondo Classification System (WTCS) is the new WT online registration tool for MNAs to register their new athletes and add Medical Diagnostic Forms (MDF) and pictures to be seen by the WT Classification Evaluation Committee to determine if the new athlete is eligible for Para Taekwondo and meets Minimum Impairment Criteria (MIC). All athletes in the WTCS will require a WT License Number (GAL).

Fill out and submit the MNA Account Request form to the Para Taekwondo Department at para-tkd@worldtaekwondo.org. . 

A username and password will then be sent to the communicated email address.  

WTCS Account Policy – Each Member Federation must internally designate exactly one (1) primary user responsible for WTCS Account.

Para Kyorugi Contest Time

Para Taekwondo: 

Para matches will be 1 round of 5 minutes with two 1/2 minute rest breaks.

The WT Technical Delegate has the authority to adjust the contest time as he sees fit.

The latest updated World Para Taekwondo Competition Rules will be implemented for competition in the K41 and K44 Sport Classes at the 2023 10th World Para Taekwondo Championships.

Competitions will be held in a single elimination format with a one round duration of contest.

*NOTE that Article 10.5 of the World Para Taekwondo Competition Rules will be in effect. Athletes that fail weigh-in shall be disqualified. 

All athletes are required to be registered in the correct weight category by the registration deadline. 

Weight categories will not be changed in the case the athlete does not pass weigh-in!

Protective Scoring System

The Championships will use KPNP protector and Scoring System (PSS). The following sizes and hit-levels will be implemented. CLICK TO VIEW
