Curnows Hut Beginner Overnight Hike
Details
Event information
EVENT SOLD OUT! Join us on the next one though :)
Join us on the first beginner overnighter of the semester - a relatively cruisy 25km loop in Bundaleer Forest, featuring ruins, shady forests, open fields, and some of the best views in South Australia's Mid North! As a bonus, we're staying inside a sweet secluded hikers' hut nestled in the hills (do bring tents just in case it's full though). You'll need enough fitness to hike 12km for two days with a full pack, on sometimes flat but sometimes fairly hilly terrain. This hike is designed to be easy so you don't need to be super fit to participate.
The cost of this trip is free apart from splitting cost of fuel with your driver (it's a 2.5 hour drive). However, if you are borrowing club gear you'll need to pay a $10 wear and tear fee.
To participate, sign up first to reserve your spot then meet us at 9am sharp on Saturday the 6th outside the Unibar. There is where we'll sort out gear and the car shuffle. I'll also make a Facebook Messenger group chat beforehand so you can ask people questions and make friends.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me via messenger (Daniel Gensemer) or text (0404497812).
FOOD
You'll need to bring your own food (among other things, list below). Specifically enough for 1 breakfast, 1 dinner, and 2 lunches. Preparing meals can sometimes be hard. If you're new to hiking I suggest you look at sources online for ideas of what food to bring, and read this article from Cam Honan, my personal hero: https://www.thehikinglife.com/2016/08/minimizing-food-and-water-weight/
GEAR
You'll need a lot of gear for this hike, but all the stuff with asterisks (*) can be borrowed from the club at the event.
