UPDATES FROM THE COMMITTEE As a parting gesture, Glen and Garth acquired three new trailers for the tinnies. Each trailer is matched to a specific tinny, which have winches to assist in getting the boats out of the water. Do not ‘mix and match’! These trailers are expensive and must be secured in the shed when the tinnies are on the water.
ANA RC will be hosting the first Masters Regatta at Champion Lakes on Sunday 22 March. We need volunteers to drive safety boats, provide on-water First Aid, commentate, assist in traffic control, staff the BBQ/ cakes stall and more. Please update the volunteering spreadsheet or email Alec if you can assist. We will also need cakes and baked goods - further details will be provided in relation to these items. The Volunteer Record has been revamped and is now available for season 2025-26. All members are reminded to enter hours as they are completed. This is the sole responsibility of the member. At the completion of the season, invoices for the unfulfilled hours WILL be issued to those members who have not completed the required 8 hours (pro rated for new members). |

RACING NEWS The Masters racing series is coming up quickly with the first Regatta to be held at Champion Lakes on 22 March. This event also doubles as the selection trials for members seeking to be in the WA crews for the Interstate races at AMRC - good luck to those members. Masters State Championships will be held on 17 May 2026 closely followed by AMRC. There will be plenty of opportunities for ANA RC members to get some of their volunteer hours up After our AMRC commitments, the Junior All Schools events will be held, with RWA Pennants following these regattas. The World Rowing Masters Regatta will be held in Bled, Slovenia from 9-13 September 2026. This is the same time as the RWA Pennant State Championships, so decisions need to be made! Also on September 13 is the 2026 Royal Flying Doctor Service Rowathon, an 80km event hosted by the Wentworth District Rowing Club near Mildura NSW. There is at least one member committed to doing this race, for further details of this event check out their website. |

ALBANY MASTERS REGATTA Albany Rowing Club hosted their bi-annual Masters Regatta on 2 March 2026 on the beautiful Kalgan River. Over 20 club members made the trip Down South for this event which consists of a 'Honeymoon Row' on the Saturday evening, before the official regatta commenced on the Sunday. Due to huge interest, races were limited to double sculls and coxed quad scull races, all being raced over approximately 600m before a handbrake stop in front of the Kalgan Rd Bridge. The races started 7:00am and finished at 2:30pm, with 42 races in total. With lots of close finishes, ANA members all won medals (gold, silver, or bronze) in their events in perfect conditions. It was great to see such a strong representation of our Rec Rowers take part in this race - thanks for hosting us, Albany RC, we will be back in 2028! |

LEARN TO ROW REGATTA Sunday's LTRR was held in perfect conditions, with the weather gods providing a lovely flat course. After completing an intensive training course, crews hit the water to determine who was the fastest. Thanks to the coaches for their efforts, and all those who helped on the day. Make sure you record your volunteer hours!

Leena recently opened her practice at Skin Cancer Focus, Cedric St Osborne Park where they specialise in understanding the relationship between the sun, water, skin health and skin cancer. Appointments to see Leena can be made at appointments.

SPOTLIGHT ON... ROWFIT INDOOR ROWING Guilty of Insider Training - Indoor rowers admit they like it too much and can't give it up!
ANA's Community Indoor Rowing Program (Rowfit) is in its second year and proving to be very popular with our local community. It is designed for people who have never rowed before or who are returning to rowing after a long absence.
We have completed six courses and demand is high from graduates to continue indoor rowing. In response, ANA RC has set up 'Insider Training' to allow people to continue to row for fitness and fun.
Insider Training sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm in Bay 3. Sessions are led by Denys Warren. No booking is required and all ANA members are welcome.
Our next Rowfit indoor rowing course starts on Tuesday 31 March at 6pm and is led by the ANA Rowfit Program Coordinator, Catherine Harrison. Encourage your family and friend to have a go at indoor rowing. Bookings essential.

BLAST FROM THE PAST - KAY JANSEN Not technically from the past; however Kay Jansen lends her name to a Sykes double/pair. Kay commenced rowing in 1972 with UWABC where she was a member of the WA Lightweight Four from 1974 to 1976, placing second in 1976. Kay made the sensible move to ANA RC in 2004 and is now found taking to the water in the 'F-Troop' quad, as well as countless times coxing various crews. Kay's favourite event to cox is the Head of the Yarra, where she has coxed 2 winning crews, tackling the Big Bend like a pro. |

WHERE'S LAURIE?? It's been somewhat quiet around the shed lately - Laurie and his super quick wit has been otherwise occupied training for the Indian Pacific Wheel Ride . This is an unofficial, solo, single-stage, unsupported, 5,500km road cycling event that commences at at 6:22am in Fremantle on the third Saturday of March, and finishes at the Sydney Opera House whenever you get there. The clock does not stop. There is no prize money. Nothing is at stake except honour. Laurie is competing under the code name 'Delirium' and this race sounds just like something that Laurie would do! You can check in on Laurie's progress via the Facebook 'Dot Watchers group. |
