Junior Development Program
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT
Sydney Acers Volleyball started its Junior Program in 2021 at Olympic Park. The program caters for for young athletes between the age of 11 - 16 and aimed to introduce new players to the sport and provide support and further development for more intermediate players.
In 2023, we ran the program at a second location in the Blacktown Coucil Area at Glenwood.
All programs have qualified coaches and a structured training program that all participants will enjoy. All coaches have current Working With Children Checks and Sydney Acers is a registered Active Kids Provider.

At Sydney Acers Volleyball, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and feel a sense of belonging through sport. Our Junior Development Program welcomes junior boys and girls from all backgrounds who are looking to build skills, confidence and a love for volleyball in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.
Led by our friendly, accredited coaching team, the program draws on decades of playing and coaching experience. We focus on creating a positive space where athletes of all abilities feel supported, encouraged and challenged. Respect, teamwork, communication and confidence are at the heart of everything we do.
This school term program (9–10 weeks, depending on term dates) is structured to support beginner & intermediate players through the natural progression of volleyball. Athletes are guided to develop consistency and confidence across all aspects of the game from serving and passing, setting and attacking, blocking and defensive play.
Program focus areas include:

Core volleyball skills: serving, digging, setting, spiking and blocking

Coordination, jumping technique, footwork and arm swing mechanics

Game understanding: rotations, offensive systems and defensive positioning
Each session runs for 1 hour and 45 minutes and is strictly capped at 24 athletes to ensure maximum court time and meaningful, individual feedback.
Session structure:

15 minutes dynamic warm-up
-
40–45 minutes skill development

45–50 minutes gameplay

WHAT TO BRING:
- Bring a water bottle (name clearly marked).
- Comfortable shirt, shorts and runners.
Participants are welcome to wear a long sleeve t-shirt or pants during colder weather.
