ABS Update – May 2025

TechTalk

Our next TechTalk is scheduled for Tuesday 20 May at 7.30pm Eastern time (0930UTC) and will address the critical decision of a pilot when not to fly from a pragmatic perspective.  GoogleMeet details on Revo as usual - TechTalk GoogleMeet link

BPPP 2026

Preparations are well underway for our flagship event the BPPP.  Note the dates in your diary of 19-22 March 2026.  It promises to be the biggest and best one ever with an increased focus on operating your aircraft as both a pilot and an operator.

Here is an article by Tom Turner on his experiences at our last BPPP in 2024.  Some of you may have seen it in the US ABS journal or Flight Safety recently – TomTurner Article BPPP2024

Wingbolt ADs

Tony Brand is continuing his campaign to have the wingbolt ADs cancelled, with ABS support.  We will keep you updated.

NT Flyaway

This trip is likely to be planned for winter 2026 but a couple of aircraft are planning an exploratory run this winter.  If you would be interested in joining for all or part, please contact Jock Folan or secretary@abs.org.au.

Sapphire Coast Flyaway

The flyaway planned for the southern NSW coast was deferred due to lack of a suitable weekend through April with late Easter and school holidays.  New dates are currently being planned.
