Pilot Safety & Airmanship

The ABS is extremely active in pilot safety and airmanship. It conducts Pilot Proficiency Programmes and Service Clinics (BPPP) biennially for Members. For new members, access to the American ABS online BPPP online Ground School Course is included as part of the Membership as an extremely worthwhile Course for all Beechcraft pilots.
The 3-4 day BPPP is planned to be once again held in Cowra, the last being attended by over 70 Members, some coming from as far away as Western Australia. It comprises a full ground school and flying program, as well as Beechcraft Maintenance Reviews (formerly called "service clinics") to have your aircraft inspected by a Beechcraft experienced LAME. Other presentations are held for experienced pilots and newer pilots alike. A Certificate of Completion of the ground school and flying programs, undertaken by instructors accredited for the Proficiency Program, is also provided which provides a discount on aircraft insurance with some insurers. Registration is only available to current members, and more details will be available on the members' website at www.revolutionise.com.au/abs .
One member attending his first BPPP this year commented: "I found the 3 days to be perfectly pitched on every level; flying, maintainence, equipment, theory and practical. Having our heavy-hitting ABS colleagues from the USA present was a high point." The ABS also helps pilots expand their skills, for example through it formation flying training program. This is available to members who wish to get a formation endorsement. Apart from the incredible experience of flying in formation, the course is extremely valuable in mastering engine management, manoeuvring and positioning together with gaining a greater understanding of a Beechcraft's flight characteristics and performance capabilities.
In addition, a maintenance seminar for LAMEs on Beechcraft piston maintenance was held in Wagga in March 2023 to enhance the level of engineering support for piston Beechcraft in Australia.
