Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

The Introduction to Refereeing Course includes theoretical and practical components and has historically been very effective in teaching new referees how to officiate as well as develop coaches’ understanding of the rules. This will assist our state and individual clubs, as well as Wrestling Australia as a whole to develop wrestling and increase the standard of wrestling.

The course will involve alternating between a short amount of classroom work, then practising on the mats. By the end of it, the participants will have a good understanding of how to officiate and run a competition.

The course is aimed at beginners, however, very experienced referees have undertaken the course in the past with great enthusiasm and have remarked they have learned a lot. Additionally, coaches who wish to improve their tactics and understanding of the rules are encouraged to attend.

There is a prior knowledge component which needs to be completed online which will take about an hour. If you are attending the course, you will be sent all this information prior to the weekend.

If you are interested in attending this training, please register no later than 21 October 2019. Numbers are limited to ensure the best experience for all participants.

Please note: This training is recommended for ages 16 and above. If a younger member is keen to participate, please register and it will be considered on an individual basis.

This course is the UWW Introduction to Referee course. It is recognised by Wrestling Australia and UWW.

It does not, however, grant the participant an international licence. To obtain a licence, the participant must attend a competition and associated course attached to that competition, and pay the appropriate fee. A list of these courses is available on the UWW website.

Any questions regarding the training can be directed to Stefan on 0438869141 or at rude0002@yahoo.com.au.

Whilst the training will be fully funded and lunch, morning and afternoon tea provided, attendees will be asked to pay a holding deposit of $50 which will be refunded in full upon course attendance. Please note: if you do not attend the course then the deposit is not able to be refunded.
