Competition Structure

WPACT will be hosting a short two-round winter competition for our senior athletes in August 2024. The point of difference will be that instead of playing as clubs, athletes are nominated to play and drafted into teams. 

This change in structure aims to break down divides between clubs and create a fun new product for players to participate in that is completely different to regular club water polo. A social event will be organised after the games to bring the community together.

Dates/Times

Round 1: Round Games

Saturday 10th August 2024 - 9am-6pm 

Round 2: Round Games + Finals

Saturday 24th August 2024 - 9am-6pm

Age Group

Players born in 2006 and earlier. The ACT 17&U team will also compete in the competition as preparation for the National State Championships.

Fees

$50 per individual player for both rounds of the Winter League, paid at the point of registration. 

Game Structure

• Games are played in a full field.
• 7 v 7
• Shot clocks will be used, and game times will be TBC based on team entries.
• Teams will play 2-3 games per round

Coaches/Captains

Clubs will be asked to supply 1 x coach/captain per gender who will take the lead for a team. Coaches are asked to contact their club if they want to be involved. 

Timelines

• Monday 10th June - Player nominations open
• Monday 29th July - Coach/Captain nominations due
• Friday 2nd August - Player nominations close
• Saturday 3rd August - Draft held
• Monday 5th August - Teams released
• Teams can organise training sessions if they wish.
• Saturday 10th August - Round 1
• Saturday 24th August - Round 2

Late Nominations

Any player who nominates after the 2nd of August will be charged $60 and allocated to a team.
