The Bendigo Region Women’s Shed (BRWS) is thrilled to be a successful recipient of a Fosterville Gold Mine Community Grant.

The equipment to be purchased will be a very great asset to BRWS activities, both for information sessions on topics such as ‘keeping yourself safe in the home and when out’, ‘estate planning and wills’, and various health topics such as ‘stroke awareness’; and when teaching craft activities. Thank you, Fosterville Goldmine for making this possible.

At the presentation, it was both an honour and a delight to be in a room with other successful recipients and to hear the stories about what their grant means to their organisation.

Mine Manager, Lance Faulkner provided a snapshot of the work of Agnico Eagle at its Fosterville Mine. The scale of the operation in terms of workforce and the mining process kilometres underground to the ore being brought to the surface for crushing and extraction. The group was also shown samples of the ore being mined. An above-ground tour of the site put it all into perspective.
