Learn to Sail programs for Juniors
Whether you're a complete beginner, looking to return to the sport, or keen to get your kids involved, we offer a range of programs for all ages and skill levels. Every session is designed to be engaging and exciting, sparking a lifelong love for sailing.
Our junior sailing programs are the perfect way for kids to learn the basics of small boat sailing in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. Guided by experienced instructors, juniors will build confidence on the water, develop essential sailing skills, and make new friends along the way..
Tackers 3 – Start Sailing
Learn tricks and techniques of sailing, and start sailing fast!
For 7-12 year-olds. If kids are confident, they can sail a boat on their own with lots of support, supervision and encouragement from the Instructor and Assistant Instructors. Soon enough they will be wizzing around a race course!

Welcome to WSC Learn to Sail in School Holidays!
We are super excited to get as many of you as we can having some fun on the water and learning the basics of sailing fast, and getting new tips and techniques.
This Course is for kids ages 7 - 12 year olds with some sailing experience, we would like them to have completed Tackers 2.
4 days, from 9am to 3pm.
4 day participants will receive a Tackers 3 certification. This means they are able to move up through the Australian Sailing pathway here at WSC and sign up for Sunday Green Fleet in our next term!

What to bring- Hat, sunscreen, water sport clothing, towel, change of clothes, plenty of water, packed morning tea and lunch.

Course Overview
This course aims to build on skills learned in Tackers 2 and focuses on advanced sailing skills through games and adventures on the water.
Course Prerequisites
- Water confident
- 7-12 years-old
- Skills, knowledge and experience gained in Tackers 2
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who have completed Tackers 2.
Course Outcome
By the end of the Tackers 3 course, the participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the correct method and understand the theory of roll tacking and gybing
- Stopping the boat in a confined areas for a period of time
- Sail backwards
- Understand the theory behind gybing and can demonstrate the action downwind
- Show a sound knowledge of the five essentials:
- Centreboard position
- Boat trim
- Boat balance
- Course made good
- Sail trim
- Start and finish races on a triangle and trapezoid course
- Always use tactical mark roundings in races
You will gain your Tackers 3 completion certificate.
