We’re excited to announce the return of the Maurice Wheatley Handicap Tournament, last played in 2019 and making a comeback this July at Northmead. Open to all Wenty Leagues Squash Club members, this mid-season event offers a fun and competitive format, giving players of all grades the opportunity to take part in something a little different.
Matches will be played across selected Tuesday and Wednesday nights in July using a traditional handicap system—designed to level the playing field and ensure close, engaging contests. There will be separate Men’s and Women’s draws, and all players are guaranteed at least two matches thanks to a Plate event for early-round exits. The tournament will conclude with a light-hearted but competitive final between the winners of each draw, playing for the historic Maurice Wheatley Shield.
This event falls perfectly between our Autumn and Spring Pennant competitions and is a great way to maintain match fitness during the break. Entry is free for all members who played in the Spring 2024 or Autumn 2025 Pennants, and registrations can be completed online or in person at the AGM on Monday 2 June 2025.
Whether you're competitive or just keen to stay active and involved, this is an event for everyone—so we encourage all members to register and be part of the action.
