2024 WHA Senior Competitions

Warwick Hockey 2024 Senior Season Structure

The season is going to be split into 2 separate competition bases:

Season 1:

Social Competition:

Night Played: Friday Nights:

Dates: 8th of March – 14th June 2024 – Final to be played on the 21st of June? (Depending on number of teams)

Age Range: Must have turned 12 years of age – Goalies to be 18years of age (unless ability is gauged as competent)

Structure: Mixed Gender teams played in Branch teams – Mixed Wyverns, Corinthians, Saints & Harlequins. Branch managers to coordinate teams. More than one team is allowed per branch

Senior Competition:

Night Played: Tuesday & Thursday: depends on numbers

Dates: 5th & 7th of March – 14th June 2024 – Final to be played on the

Age Range: Must have turned 13 years of age – Goalies must be 18 years of age.

Structure: Graded Mixed Gender teams that will be graded by the Grading Committee. Teams will be assigned a manager.

Finals eligibility: Minimum number of games to play the final will be half of the season games plus 1: Extenuating circumstances will be decided on an individual bases via delegate/manager & Committee

Season 2:

Social Competition:

Night Played: Friday Nights

Dates: 12th July – 30th August 2024 – Grand final 30th August 2024

Age Range: Must have turned 12 years of age

Structure: Hockey 5’s – team structure to be advised – more information on Hockey 5’s to be distributed before season starts – very exciting new format.

Senior Competition:

Night Played: Tuesday & Thursday Nights: depends on numbers.

Dates: 9th July – 31st August 2024 – Please note the Grand Final will be on a Saturday to coincide with the Juniors to make it a whole day of hockey.

Age Range: Must have turned 13years of age.

Structure: Men’s Teams / Ladies Teams:  Players will be put in teams by the Grading Committee. Games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday night, alternating.

Finals eligibility: Minimum number of games to play the final will be half of the season games plus 1: Extenuating circumstances will be decided on an individual bases via delegate/manager & Committee

Uniforms:

Women:          Skorts or shorts allowed, leggings are only to be work under shorts or skorts and must be the same colour for the whole team. Mid-thigh length shorts are preferred – approved by your team/branch manager. – colour as per team allocation

                        Shirts as per team allocation

Men:                Shorts – colour as per team allocation

                        Shirts as per team allocation

Bernie Trapp Competition:

To be played in the Super league of past format.

2 men’s teams / 2 ladies teams – 3 games over 3 months.

Dates: 15th June, 13th July & 3rd of August.

Umpiring:

Umpires payments will be made at the end of the first and second season. Umpires are to make sure that when they are signing the card at the end of the game that their name is legible (otherwise payments will not be made). If you umpire please make sure your bank details are with the Treasurer so she does not have to chase you for our details.

Payments will be made per the following structure:

Senior Badged: $15 – dependant of grade – certificates must be registered on the WHA data base.

Senior Unbadged: $10

5game learner: drink or canteen money – instructor to be paid

Social – Badged: $10

Social Unbadged: $5

Senior Competition:  New learning umpire must have an experienced umpire with then for a         min of 5 games: both umpires will be paid. – Arm bad for learning umpires, badged & unbadged – Under 18 & over 18. Umpires must have an umpire shirt on not a club shirt. Must be easily identifiable.

New umpires to have a brief learning session with Kerri/Al/Toni or someone who is very knowledgeable. Online courses available online. Must be completed through Hockey Australia. Lynn Mogg to come and do a session before we start the season.

                                     Headsets to be used and offered in more games.

                                    Schedule sessions for every 3 months so feedback/advise on how new/existing umpires are performing.

                                    Passport – Online course, someone to sign off on games, give feedback – coulter shield/southern cross experience – state champs – once training is complete & an accreditation is achieved WHA will supply a HQ umpire shirt in recognition.
