Please complete the nomination process below and pay the required nomination fee of $25.00 in order to participate in the Selection Trials for the WA Masters Hockey 2020 Women’s and Men’s State Teams.

2020 Australian Championships – Masters Women’s Hockey

  1. Please nominate for your relevant age division - from Over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 to Over 65
  2. Tournament dates (playing dates inclusive): Wednesday 1 July - Saturday 11 July, 2020.
  3. Tournament location: Cairns, Queensland.
  4. Expected costs (averaged by airfare, accommodation, players registration and fees): $3000 - $4000

Nominations for Women’s State Masters Teams: Nominations for your age division must be entered through this website no later than 5.00pm on the Wednesday 18 March 2020.

  1. Two separate Women’s Team Selection Trial Carnivals will be held on Saturday 21 March 2020 at two different venues for different age divisions. Please note your relevant venue.  
    1. 8:00am – 9:00am –Goalkeeper Trials will start prior to each carnival at both venues.
    2. 9:00am – 5:00pm:  Over 35s, Over 40s and Over 45s, Over 50s at Fremantle Hockey Turf, Lakelands Hockey & Sporting Facility – Lakelands Reserve, South Lake Drive, South Lake WA
    3. 9:00am – 5:00pm: Over 55s, Over 60s and Over 65s at Warwick Hockey Centre, Whitfords Club, 86 Lloyd Drive, Warwick WA 6024

2020 Australian Championships – Masters Men’s Hockey

  1. Please nominate for your relevant age division – Over 35s, 40s, 45s, 50s, 55s, 60s, 65s, 70s to Over 75s. (Please note that Division 2 is typically for Over 50 & 55 & 60 age groups where there are sufficient numbers) 
  2. Tournament dates and location: Men’s Masters Hockey
    1. Over 45s - O75s, Gold Coast, Queensland.  27 June – 11 July 2020
    2. Over 34s - O40s, Gold Coast, Queensland. 3 – 11 October 2020
  3. Expected costs (averaged by airfare, accommodation, players registration and fees): $3000 - $4000

Nominations for Men’s State Masters Teams: Nominations for your age division must be entered through this website no later than 5.00pm on the Friday 20 March 2020.

  1. Separate Men’s team TRIALS will be held on Sunday 22 March and Sunday 29 March 2020.
    1. 8:00am to 3:00pm.  Sunday 22 March for Over 35s to 60s at Pulse Realty Stadium, Melville Hockey Club, Williamson Road, Kardinya
    2. 9:00am to 2:00pm.  Sunday 29 March for Over 35s to 60s at Pulse Realty Stadium, Melville Hockey Club, Williamson Road, Kardinya
    3. 12:00pm – 1:00pm. Wednesday 25 March – Over 65s & 70s at Perth Hockey Stadium.

Please review the Nomination Conditions following, complete the nomination process and make payment with your credit card for the amount of $25:00. 

Throughout this document WA Masters Hockey means and includes the WA Masters Hockey Committee (WAMHC), a Committee authorised by Hockey WA to promote, develop, coordinate and advise on Masters Hockey in WA for Hockey WA, and the Western Australian Hockey Association (Inc.).

Nomination Conditions

  1. Nominating Players should refer to the WA Masters Hockey State Selection Policy v2020 for a detailed explanation of the State Team Selection Process.  (www.wamastershockey.com). All nominating players are deemed to have read and accepted the current State Selection Policy.
  2. The Nomination Fee must be paid by Visa / MasterCard to complete the nomination process. This is the only form of payment accepted.
  3. The Nomination Fee is $25 per player and will not be refunded under any circumstances (unless a team cannot be entered due to insufficient numbers).
  4. Nominated players who fail to attend any part of the selection process without prior and / or written notification to the WA Masters Hockey Committee may not be considered for selection.
  5. Nominating players must attain the minimum age for a division by 31 December of the championship year. For example, a player turning 40 on or before 31 December 2020 is eligible for selection in the Over 40 Division in 2020
  6. A player’s nomination will only be accepted for their age appropriate team. If you wish to nominate for an older team via a Hockey Australia Permit please nominate for your age appropriate team and then advise WAHMC – any such Permit is at the discretion of Hockey Australia.
  7. All costs are to be met by the players. This includes, but is not limited to, the cost of subsidies for Coaches and Managers, training, airfares, travel insurance, accommodation, uniforms, physios, sports trainers, masseuse, playing equipment, vehicle hire, meals and living expenses. The team manager may coordinate fundraising activities to reduce costs. All Players, Coaches and Managers must pay any invoices for costs in full before departure. On average, expected total costs for interstate tournaments range from $3000 - $4000 depending on location and dates.
  8. A deposit will be required from each player selected within 7 days of being formally notified of their selection.  This deposit is non-refundable.
  9. Team logistics arrangements are as set out below:
    1. WA Masters Hockey does not book travel for players.  Selected players should make their own travel arrangements to reach the venue at least one clear day before their Championship commences or as directed by the team manager. 
    2. Accommodation for each team has been arranged by the manager from last year and will be coordinated by the appointed manager for this year.
    3. If you intend to stay in a caravan or at non team accommodation it is not WA Masters Hockey preference, and you agree to attend all team meetings and events as directed by the team manager.

10. All players selected are required to purchase and wear the WAMHC approved playing strip and tracksuit.  For men this is the yellow uniform approved in 2016 plus the black alternate top approved in 2018. For women, it is the new playing skirt and black alternate top approved in 2019. Players moving up to a higher age group should note that their playing number might be taken by a player from last year necessitating the purchase of a new playing shirt with new number or renumber eg 6 to 16.

11. All Players, Managers and Coaches are insured under the Hockey Australia Sportscover Group Plan provided that they are registered with an affiliated Club or Association. This provides minimal cover and it is a requirement that each player obtains their own satisfactory Travel and Medical insurances.

12. In case a player has to pull out of the tournament and NO replacement player can be found, this may result in that player having to pay some of their and the team costs already incurred.

13. Players will be deemed to accept the HWA Player Contract and the Hockey Australia Code of Conduct if selected.

14. WA Masters Hockey shall appoint Selection Panels to select Players for Master’s State Teams in accordance with the WA Masters Hockey State Selection Policy.

15. Please note that any dispute by a Player relating to the application of the State Selection Policy shall be referred to WA Masters Hockey Committee for resolution. Please submit via email to the WAMHC Chair.

16. In submitting this Nomination form a player agrees to comply with all policy and procedures of WA Masters Hockey and Hockey WA including the WA Masters Hockey State Selection Policy.
