The Australian Volleyball Super League (AVSL) will look a lot different in 2023. Volleyball Australia (VA) are proposing a number of changes this year for the rebranded Super League.

The current proposal will see 6 teams compete in a single round robin, with the home and away season to be held in August and September, culminating in the Super League Finals being held in conjunction with the start of the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships in late September.

The match format for Super League is also set to change with games moving to compulsory 5 sets. All sets will be to 15 points, with every set won contributing to each teams points on the ladder.

Along with the change in match format, power plays may be introduced which would see teams winning 2 points for certain points when called by the head coaches.

Volleyball Australia is yet to confirm these new rules or exact dates for the 2023 season.

Volleyball Victoria is excited to once again have the Melbourne Vipers competing in the national league.  We will continue to update the community as more information comes to hand.

Please note: Trials are eligible only to those born in 2005 or earlier.  For those born in 2006+, we recommend trialing for the Volleyball Victoria Indoor Youth State Team
