Background
The club offers training, competitions and fun for players at all levels and is based at Lakeside Leisure Centre, Tuggeranong. Players benefit from coaching by senior players, many of whom have played at State and National level, as well as having accredited coaching qualifications. Many senior players have played at National and National League levels. Both junior and senior teams participate in State Country teams and squads.

Programs Available –

Flippaball

Flippaball is a modified water polo program designed for the 7- 12 years old. The key objective of the program is to develop fundamental skills and an understanding and enjoyment of the game. Through the program players will learn and develop important ball skills and water skills that are not only needed to play the sport but are also important water survival skills, including the egg-beater kick, that are taught by Royal Life Saving Australia in their Swim & Survive program.

Junior Water Polo Competition

Our juniors play in the ACT competitions, with many playing State development squads and representative teams, many making it to State and then onto National Australian age group levels. Our juniors benefit from training with senior coaches and developing alongside experienced players.

In 2016, Tuggeranong Vikings runs an intensive training program based on players’ playing ability – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The structured criteria for each level, clearly defines the requirements an athlete needs to meet to advance in levels. Structured training sessions are designed to meet the player’s level while challenging them to also improve.

Social Water Polo

The competition, convened by Vikings Water Polo, is a mixed teams competition that caters for players 15 years and over. The beginner player, the experienced player returning to the sport or anyone looking for an alternative fitness and social experience. The emphasis of the competition is on enjoyment, social atmosphere and skill development. While competitiveness is not discouraged, the objective is to encourage participation for all players regardless of their skill level , therefore the ‘win at all costs’ philosophy would not be appropriate.

Senior Water Polo Competition

Our Senior teams compete in a local club based competition. They enjoy traveling to NSW Country District Championships, NSW Country Club Championships as well as to overseas competitions.
