More Information

The Adult Better Sailing course is designed for participants who have completed our Adult Start Sailing course. It builds on the start sailing intro to racing, teaches further boat handling and racing strategy, it will incorporate into the friendly competitive weekly racing on Albert Park Lake each week. This course will set you up to start solo and group sailing on the Lake and beyond. 

Topics covered include the basics of:

• Clothing and safety equipment 
• Parts of the boat
• Rigging (setting the boat up)
• Steering
• Sail control
• Speed control
• Launch and recovery
• Capsize recovery
• Towing
• Sailing rules

Course Overview

This course focuses on sailing in stronger winds and introducing extra equipment like spinnaker and trapeze to leverage the full boat potential on the water.

Course Prerequisites

Water confident, and you should have the skills, knowledge and experience gained from the Start Sailing 2 course.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to continue developing their sailing skills in dinghies. 

Course Outcome

You will gain your Better Sailing completion certificate.
