Go the Vics!
The Victorian team has retained the Eire Cup, undefeated after five days of play.
Yesterday was the fourth day of competition, and all three Tests were closely fought, with Victoria defeating NSW, WA defeating Tasmania and Queensland defeating SA all 11 games to 9. With the victory over NSW, Victoria was the only team remaining undefeated - but on the final day Victoria was up against SA coming off a narrow loss, and NSW was playing Tasmania, who were yet to win a Test. So NSW was still a real danger...
On the final day, Victoria achieved ten pegouts and defeated SA 15:5, including at least one win by every player in the team.
Well done Victoria!
For the record, the Victorian team won 70 games across the five days of competition, and pegged out in 39 of them. A wonderful achievement.
Below are pics by Junko Hill showing some of the pegouts. Thanks, Junko.
