Learn to row over 5 Sunday mornings with our friendly coaches in a course designed for the complete beginner.  All equipment is supplied in this course which will teach you about the boats, the equipment and the rowing stroke.  You could be on the water in week 1 or 2 and hopefully reach the Narrows Bridge or Elizabeth Quay by week 5, depending on rowing conditions.  You will probably get to see dolphins...but we can't promise.

Please note that rowing on the Swan River is weather dependent. If we can't get out on the water for safety reasons, the session will be land based, honing the rowing stroke on the stationary ergo machine.  Sometimes we offer an extra session at the end of the course if too much unrowable weather has occurred.   While we would endeavor to find a day that suits most attendees we can't promise to find a day that suits everyone, it's the nature of rowing.

Aerobic fitness is not required at this beginner level, however as a crew you do need to be able to lift a boat overhead and your body needs to be flexible enough to compress up during the stroke, requiring a general level of good health.  It is a good idea to do some stretching before and after every session.

Many people wonder why we don't row in summer when it's warmer.  The answer is because the summer Easterly winds create awful choppy water that is often unrowable.  So yes it's cooler, but layer up to keep warm and surprise yourself as to how invigorating and terrific it is to try out the sport of rowing.

You will receive an email with all relevent information on rowing/clothing requirements.  Please read it!
