The Nage No Kata is the formal forms of throwing. It demontrates the basic principles that all the different throwing techniques or (Nage Waza) rely upon to make them work. There is five separate sets to work through which will be covered over the five separate sessions of the course.

The Nage No Kata is required as part of Senior 3rd Kyu (Green) 1st Set, 2nd Kyu (Blue) 1st & 2nd Set and 1st Kyu (Brown) 1st, 2nd & 3rd Sets and of course for Sho Dan all five sets of the Nage No Kata need to be demonstrated in front of a State Grading Panel.

The Course will be Conducted by John Buckley 6th Dan, Rob Maurency 5th Dan and Ivica Pavlinic 3rd Dan.

Watch the first two sets of both videos below & learn the sequence. 

Take note of the general movements and the movements specific to each, e.g.

  • Uke always initiates the movement.
  • The spacing for Ippon Seoi Nage
  • Uki Goshi starts with a left technique
  • Grip changes and so on...
