Training Update and Coach announcements

We have a start date for club training! We will officially commence for all teams (excluding Hookin2Hockey) on the week of the 20th April. It also brings me great pleasure to introduce our coaches for 2026, including lots of new coaches from our senior clubs.

Official first training session dates/times:

• U10 - Thursday 23rd April, 5-6pm on Carter
  • Girls coach: Anika Oswald
  • Boys coach: Rupert Hughes
    
• U12 - Monday 20th April, 5-6pm on Watt
  • Boys coaches: Charlie Ford and Dylan Lang
    
    • Merged team with Old Canberrans
  • Div 1 girls coach: Emma White and Sarah Osborne
  • Div 2 girls coach TBC (awaiting final confirmation)
    • Merged team with North Canberra Eagles
      
• U14 boys - Monday 20th April, 5-6pm on Watt
  • Coaches: Greg Ward and Julien Bowen
    • Merged team with Old Canberrans and North Canberra Eagles
      
• U14 girls - Thursday 23rd April, 5-6pm on Carter

Early “Pre-season” Sessions

Because we have some very keen coaches and available field space, a few teams will be holding optional pre-season sessions next week (the 2nd week of school holidays). These sessions will be at the same times as above.

• Monday 13th, U12 boys and girls, JSL boys and girls
• Thursday 16th, U10 girls and U14 girls

We understand that not everyone will be able to attend these bonus sessions next week. They are intended as a casual introductory hit-out. U10 & U14 boys will start the following week when their coaches are back in town!

Team lists are still being finalised but will be published soon!

Uniform and Kit requirements

A quick reminder regarding our Uni Juniors club uniform, and a note about our merged teams:

• Playing tops: These are supplied by the club for use during the season and will be distributed to all players prior to their first game. To help us keep registration costs down from year to year we require all shirts to be returned at the end of the season.
  
• Shorts/Skorts/Skirts and Socks: Players are required to provide their own playing bottoms and socks in our club colours. Our shorts/skorts/skirts are navy blue, and our socks are gold. Socks and playing bottoms can be purchased at the hockey shop in Lyneham.
  
• Merged teams - Some of our teams are merged and will wear hybrid uniforms, with a split of tops and socks from each club:
  • Boys U12 & U14 - Uni Juniors tops / Checks socks
  • Boys JSL - do not buy socks yet, this team uniform has not been finalised yet.
  • Girls U12/2- Uni Juniors tops / North Canberra Eagles socks
  • Girls U14/2 - NCE tops / Uni Juniors socks. NCE tops will be supplied.

It takes a lot to get ready for the season, and recently our equipment has had a good dose of sorting and categorisation in preparation for handing over to coaches next week!
