|| WHAT'S HAPPENING ||

We are so back this ANZAC Day long weekend — and this time, the Underwater Club is heading north to Nelson Bay for an unforgettable coastal escape.

Think: the last of the warm weather, salty hair, and full send dive days followed by sunset beers right on the beach.

We’ll be diving in the spectacular Great Lakes Marine Park, a playground of islands, reefs, caves, and sheltered bays packed with life. We’re aiming to make the iconic trip out to Broughton Island, widely known as "one of the best spots on the East Coast to dive with Grey Nurse Sharks". If GNS has been on your bucket list, this is your moment. Expect thriving kelp forests, sponge gardens, cuttlefish, octopus, nudibranchs, blind sharks, pineapple fish, and some seriously epic underwater terrain.

And when you’re not underwater? We’ve locked in a sweet beach house literally steps from the sand — perfect for post-dive hangs, big cook-ups, DJ sets from your mates, and sunsets that hit different with a drink in hand.

Diving will be open to all levels, with a mix of sites suitable for both newer and more experienced divers.If you’re new to the club and/or scuba diving, this is the perfect chance to meet people, build confidence, and see what club trips are all about.

If you are uncomfortable sharing a house (and potentially a room) with others, this trip may not be for you.

|| COST ||

$220 – includes 3 nights’ accommodation; meals Saturday, Sunday, Monday (breakfast only) and drinks for the party night! (Drinks will be provided however those with more discerning tastes are welcome to BYO).

|| DIVING ||

$30 per boat dive (1/3rd of the cost of commercial operators). We are planning for 2 days diving (Sat, Sun), 2 dives/day each (weather permitting) at a variety of dive sites.

Air fills at local dive shops and approx. ~$15.

There are a variety of excellent free shore dives around Nelson’s Bay if you’re still craving time underwater!

In order to participate in the organised dives, you will need to show us your SCUBA certification card and be competent and confident in your swimming abilities. You should have dived within the past 12 months and be comfortable to dive in a buddy pair without a dive guide (we aren’t a commercial dive shop).

|| GEAR ||

You are responsible for organising your own gear. BCDs, tanks, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins and weights are all available to hire from the club through our gear hire portal - https://www.revolutionise.com.au/underwaterclub/gear-hire-. You will need to book, collect, clean, dry and return any hired club gear.

|| GETTING THERE ||

Nelsons Bay is a 2.5 hour drive North of Sydney. As it is a long weekend, we recommend travelling outside of peak times so a 2.5 hour drive doesn’t become 5.

Everyone is responsible for organising their own transport (including dive gear). We recommend carpooling.

Bookings for this trip will open at 7:00pm on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. You will need to be a paid 2026 member to register. Please note that the number of attendees on this trip are limited so be quick to register (we suggest setting a reminder on your phone). A waitlist will be opened at 7:10pm on Wednesday 1 April 2026 for those that miss out in case of cancellations.
