And it’s BETTER THAN EVER!

The UNSW Underwater Club is returning to Narooma to dive the world renowned Barunguba Montague Island 

Barunguba Montague Island is teeming with underwater life. Everything from grey nurse sharks, port jackson sharks, schools of kingfish, rays, turtles and more port jackson sharks are found here in abundance. But what really makes this place special is the 1000+ adorable, energetic and highly interactive fur seals that call this island home.

Did we mention we’ve also secured a sweet, sweet, beach house which is perfect for post-dive beach chills, beers and sunsets (or sunrises if that’s more your thing). All levels of skill welcome, as long as you have an Open Water SCUBA cert.

|| WHEN ||
September 19th to the 21st! Arrive Friday night (19/09/2025) and depart Sunday (21/09/2025).

 

|| COST ||
$140 – Includes 2 nights’ accommodation; breakfast, lunch, and dinner for Saturday, Sunday breakfast, and drinks for the party night! (Drinks will be provided however those with more discerning tastes are welcome to BYO).

 

|| DIVING ||
$30 per boat dive (1/3rd of the cost of commercial operators). Aiming for 2 days of diving (Sat, Sun), 2 boat dives on the saturday each (weather permitting). Air fills from a local dive shop at ~ $10-15 ea. 

 

|| GEAR ||
Please come prepared with all your own gear. The club provides BCDs, tanks regs, wetsuits, masks, fins, and weights for cheap hire. You will need to book, collect, clean, dry and return any hired club gear. Gear Hire Portal: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/underwaterclub/gear-hire-portal/

 

|| GETTING THERE ||
Narooma is scenic 5-hour drive south of Sydney, or a grueling 3 day walk. Up to you, but we recommend hitting the road outside of peak times so a 5 hour drive doesn’t become 9. If you’re not up for the walk, we will coordinate some carpooling.

 

|| BOOKING ||
Bookings for this trip will open at 7:00pm on Monday, 1 September 2025. 
You will need to be a paid 2025 member to register. Please note that the number of attendees on this trip are limited so be quick to register (we suggest setting a reminder on your phone). A waitlist will be opened at 7:10pm on Monday, 1 September 2025. Further details regarding this trip will be sent to members after they’ve registered and payed.
