To register for this trip you must have a minimum of 40 logged dives AND have completed your PADI Advanced open water diver or equivalent.

Oooooohhhhhhhh yeah it's that time of year again- time for South West Rocks and an Underwater Club trip to the best dive site in NSW.... Fish Rock!

It's a 125 metre underwater cave in the best grey nurse shark aggregation site in Australia, with rays, wobbies, countless nudis and so much other marine life that we can't even comprehend describing it. There's a reason why this is our most popular trip.

Unfortunately for some, the dive at Fish Rock is both deep and cavey, and as such is only accessible to more experienced divers. As a result, to register for this trip you must have a minimum of 40 logged dives AND have completed your PADI Advanced open water diver or equivalent.

 

|| COST ||
$185 - includes accommodation, food and booze for a party night (theme TBA). 
Drinks will be provided but don't expect anything too fancy - if you have particular tastes you're welcome to BYO.

You will need to pay for boat dives and air fills separately (see below).

Booking will open up at 7:00pm on Tuesday, 12th September 2023 on the Club website, here.

You will need to be a paid 2023 member to register. Please note that the number of attendees on this trip are limited. A waitlist will be opened at 7:10pm on Tuesday, 12th September 2023 for those that miss out in case of cancellations.

|| GETTING THERE ||

South West Rocks is scenic 5-hour drive north of Sydney. As it is a long weekend, we recommend travelling outside of peak times so a 5 hour drive doesn’t become 10.

Everyone is responsible for organising their own transport (including dive gear). Due to COVID-19 we can’t recommend carpooling with people outside your household.

|| GEAR ||
You are responsible for organising your own gear. BCDs, tanks, regulators, dive computers, wetsuits, masks, fins and weights are all available to hire from the club through our gear hire portal*. (https://www.revolutionise.com.au/underwaterclub/gear-hire-portal/)

If you need anything else you can hire it from the local dive shop there or hire stuff out for the weekend from any dive shop in Sydney.

|| DIVING ||

Boat Dives:
$25 each, 1/3 the cost of a commercial operation! Pick up from Trial Bay Beach, short run out to Fish Rock. We will aim for two dives per person/day for Saturday and Sunday, with the potential for a last dive on Monday morning, dependent on weather and conditions. Tank fills aren't included and will be purchased at the local dive shop, expect to pay about $10/fill.

VERY IMPORTANT:

The cave is pitch black in sections, as such it is necessary that everybody have THEIR OWN torch - they can be rented from a number of dive shops in Sydney if you don't have one. The same goes for your OWN safety sausage and dive computer. No SMB / computer = no diving.

In order to participate in the organised dives, you will need to show us your SCUBA certification card and be competent and confident in your swimming abilities. You should have dived within the past 12 months and be comfortable to dive in a buddy pair without a dive guide (we aren’t a commercial dive shop).

|| DIETARY REQUIREMENTS ||
Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements once you have registered.

|| SLEEPING ||
Beds are assigned on a first paid first served basis. If you are not assigned a bed please bring something comfy to sleep on like a sleeping bag, air mattress, tent, or whatever you fancy. If you are uncomfortable sharing a house/bedroom with people you don’t know, this trip is unfortunately not for you.
