Edit 5/08/2023: Terrigal 2023 Trip now available to Open-Water Divers!

We have received a lot of demand from Open Water divers, so we have decided to make the Terrigal 2023 Trip available to open water and beginner divers! Terrigal has dozens of beginner friendly boat dives, such as Two Poles, Fifeshire Reef, and Lighthouse Reef that are just teeming with life! Expect to see gorgonian sea fans, sponge gardens, blue groper, cuttlefish and even schools of kingfish and pelagics! Unfortunately open water divers will not be permitted diving on the Ex-HMAS Adelaide due to its depth. For the Advanced Divers, we are still planning on diving the wreck.

Original trip details.

Are you ready to get Wrecked!? Come join the UNSW Underwater Club for a weekend in Terrigal to dive the infamous ex-HMAS Adelaide. This 138 m long naval warship was purpose sunk off Terrigal headland in 2011 to create an artificial reef for SCUBA diving, and 12 years later it is now encrusted in sponges, corals, nudibranchs, and a plethora of fish, big and small! Come sit in the captain's chair, plan your next move in the control room, 'use' the crew toilets, and explore the gaping helicopter hangers. Unfortunately, the Adelaide is a deep wreck dive, and so only advanced open water divers with 40 or more log dives can attend the trip.

||ADVANCED TRIP||

Please note, due to the depth and overhead structure of the wreck, the wreck dive is restricted to divers with a MINIMUM Advanced Open Water Certification AND at least 40 logged dives AND have dived in the last 12 months.
