Afternoon All,

I hope we are all fighting fit and ready to take on the Winter Cross Country Season which starts with the first event this Saturday at Minnippi Parklands, Tingalpa.

The news within the April Toowong Harriers Club Herald

What’s happening to the clubhouse at Jack Cook Memorial Park

As many of you know and some will not, we have been successful in capturing a couple of grants to support facilities and associated upgrades over the last few months.

So one that has been pressing for a number of years is the condition of our clubhouse patio and useable spaces for storage and the like. Well as of last weekend we demolished the old patio and have engaged various contractors to build a new, larger and improved outdoor shelter for our members, as part of theses works we will be performing some well needed TLC on our home and fixing the odd crack and divit and giving the whole place a new coat of paint to breath a bit of life back into it.

*Render of new works, over 80sqm of covered space*

We will also be conducting the following other major works around the facilities;

repairing the sunken edge beams on Long Jump A pit

Building a new set of storage lockers alongside Shed #S1, this will enable us to remove hirers equipment from the clubhouse, store our grounds equipment more effectively and in the future open the usable space within the clubhouse and put some of our proud history on display.

To do all of these things we will require the assistance of you, our members to roll up you sleeves on a few working bees to get this achieved, as these things that we achieve at our club only happen we get involved.

And a last little positive bit of gossip around the club is True..! We have finally purchased our own event clock/countdown timer for Cross Countries, Toowong Gift, training, and any other events we chose to run.
