AGM outcomes

Published Mon 18 Sep 2023

Our 2023-24 AGM was held on Saturday 16 September.

Outgoing President Mick Jones highlighed acheivements for the association and Tasmanian sabot fleet over the past 12 months including:

  • Strong participation from across Australia at the Nationals at PDYC, building on participation at the Teralba Nationals. An exceptionally well organised by a broad team from within the association.
  • The increased level of participation and increasing skill within the Tasmanian fleet, rebuilding after some lean years.
  • The class is one of the strongest around, with a great vibe and attitude.
  • Operating concept has been lowest cost, most fun. The Nationals has provided a base that can be used to support the class and get sailors active, and where they need to be over the next four years, leading to the next Nationals in Tasmania.
  • Sabots are successful because they are very friendly, family oriented class, but there is more we could do to support fun activities aside from racing, building the family connection.

The committee for 2023-24 is:

President: Matt Wardell (Port Esperance Sailing Club)

Vice president: John Adams (Kingston Beach Sailing Club)

Treasurer: Michelle Tassicker (Wynyard Sailing Club)

Secretary: Kelly Frith (Port Dalrymple Yacht Club)

Measurer: James Lohrey (Leven Yacht Club)

A call will be made shortly to book places on the trailer for boat transport to nationals.
