VOLLEYBALL ASCENDANT LEAGUE (VAL)

OVERVIEW
The Volleyball Ascendant League (VAL) is a high-quality, community-driven NSW Division 3 volleyball competition. The league is designed to bridge the gap between social volleyball and state league competition, aligning with Volleyball NSW’s endorsement objectives. The VAL Champions will be nominated to participate in the Sydney Volleyball League Promotion Day. The winner of this promotion event will earn the opportunity to compete in Division 2 of the Sydney Volleyball League for the 2027 season. VAL provides a structured development pathway for emerging Men’s and Women’s teams and athletes in partnership with Volleyball NSW.

MATCH DETAILS AND STRUCTURE
(Aligned with the Sydney Volleyball League Division 2 format)

Women’s Division 3
Competition Day: Every Saturday from 19th July to 12th September 2026
Match Time: 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Venue: Camellia Indoor Sports Centre, 9 Grand Avenue, Camellia NSW 2142
To remain consistent with the current SVL Division 2 competition framework, VAL will operate under the following match format:
- All Round Games are timed best of five (5), 120 minutes incl. a twenty minute warm-up protocol
- All Playoff Games (semi finals, grand finals) are untimed best of five (5)
Set Structure:
- Sets 1–4: First to 25 points
- Set 5 (if required): First to 15 points, or first to 8 points if the match is time-capped, whichever occurs first
COMPETITION SCHEDULE
The preliminary round will be conducted over nine weeks in a round-robin format.
- Round-robin commencement: 19 July
- Round-robin completion: 12 September

- Match result (win, loss, or forfeit)

PLAYOFFS
- Semi Finals: Top four teams – 19 September, untimed best of 5 sets.
- Grand Final: Top two teams – 26 September, untimed best of 5 sets.
Promotion Pathway
The VAL Champions will be nominated to participate in the Sydney Volleyball League Promotion Day. The winner of this promotion event will earn the opportunity to compete in Division 2 of the Sydney Volleyball League for the 2027 season.
PARTICIPANTS
Participants MUST be at least a 2025/2026 recreational member of VNSW.
Players may only play for ONE team. Athletes who have competed in SVL Division 1 or higher in either the current or any previous SVL season are ineligible to participate in the Volleyball Ascendant League (VAL). Each team may register a maximum of two (2) athletes who are currently competing in SVL Division 2.
All teams are required to perform duty during the event.
OFFICIALS
Matches will be officiated by accredited referees or Volleyball NSW–approved officials, subject to availability.
TEAM FEES
The total team entry fee for the Volleyball Ascendant League is $2,388, with an initial deposit of $300 payable upon registration.
The remaining balance must be paid in full by 19 June 2026. Registration will only be considered confirmed once full payment has been received in accordance with the stated payment timeline.
The VAL entry fee has been structured to remain accessible while maintaining a competition format consistent with SVL Divison 2 standards, including match duration and structure to minimise the likelihood of drawn matches. For reference, current Sydney Volleyball League entry fees are $3,565 for Division 2 and $3,100 for Division 3.
Please note that individual player registrations are not accepted. The Volleyball Ascendant League is a team-based competition and is not operated as a social league.

Registrations close: 12 June 2026, or earlier if competition capacity is reached
To register, please complete the registration form and follow the instructions provided to submit your deposit.
Teams will be notified within one to two weeks regarding whether a place has been secured. Once notified, teams must finalise the remaining balance in accordance with the payment instructions provided via email to confirm their position in the competition.
If competition capacity is reached and a place cannot be offered, all deposits will be fully refunded.
