Event Led by Evan, as a part of the Suzuki 4wd Club Victoria

 

A 1 night camping trip. 5 up to 30 vehicle convoy & off road adventure on well made dirt roads, and light to medium technical 4x4 driving. Conducted during daylight hours through elevated forests, plantations and rocked-terrain scenery, overnight stay at an established camp area with drop toilet facilities. This is intended to be an activity for drivers and Jimnys/Suzukis of all ages and abilities to participate in. Intentions are to grow participants' skills in off road driving, assessing obstacles and how to camp safely in a group, create new friendships and as well as have a great time.

 

This Trip is suitable for stock 3 and 5 Door Jimnys, on stock tires as you will be able to learn the capabilities of the car, modified cars and experienced drivers are also welcome and appreciated to act as role models and mentors for new drivers.

 

There will be drop toilets through out the day and at the campsite.

 

Activities include:

-Convoy drive through forest and high lookouts across rural scenery

-Sight seeing (Lookouts, Pine Forrests, Huts, Creeks/Water falls & camp spots!)

-Group social get together in the evening

-4x4 Skill building activities

-Camping and Bush cooking

 

All participants must be either a temporary member ($15 for the weekend) or a full member of the Suzuki 4wd club vic for insurance reasons (Thank you for understanding this requirement - from Evan )

Activity length: 0930 h Saturday 10th October 2026 - NLT 1600h Sunday 11th October 2026 (Please aim to arrive 15-20 mins before 0930 to allow time for you to go to the toilet and get signed in)

 

Trip Distance: 200 km, Mix On/Off road, Dirt roads/tracks, Skill builder 4x4 obstacles that you can be coached through across the 2 days

 

Event Begins: 9:30 am SHARP!, Saturday 10th October 2026 - No provisions for late arrivals.

Meeting point: Polly Mcquinn Weir, Strathbogie (Best place to fuel up is either Euroa or Merton prior to meeting us at the start location)

Sunsmart and weather continuous outdoor wear eg.

 

-Long Sleeve Shirt (With Collar, for sun protection)

-Long Pants

-Closed toe boots (Work type or Hiking type)

-Hat (Bucket or Broad brim only - No Caps)

-Sunnies

-Drink Bottle

 

Ground rules:

1. No Pets (Service animals will be admitted in accordance with state and federal regulations as required - Please contact me to allow for additional support if required)

 

2. No Littering/Environmental Damage/Being a pig

 

3. Respect is for everyone,Everyone deserves to feel safe on trips. No bullying/harrasment/sexisim/racisim/stalking/smothering/abuse or otherwise unfriendly behaviour.

 

4. "On the bus/Off the bus" -Everyone starts the trip at the same time and place, and ends the trip at the same time, only early discharge is if your car is on a tow truck and you're in an Ambulance helicopter. - This is to prevent people getting lost or stuck on their own... again.

 

5. Everyone Must bring a 10-15 kg bag of Dry Firewood (Redgum or Hardwood), Do not bring Pallets or Industrial Timber. Everyone contributes a bit = Nice warm fire for everyone all night.

 

6. “Take in/Take out” Rubbish Policy - Cans and bottles are NOT to be thrown in the fire.

 

7. Chainsaws - No Requirement to bring a chainsaw, I don't want 

12 chainsaw heros as soon as there is a tree over the track. I'll have mine with me for track clearance along with PPE, Wedges etc. If you are to use a saw, you will have to verify that you have completed AHCMOM213 Operate and maintain chainsaws or equivalent. - This is to reduce the hazard level I am accepting as trip leader.

 

General Weather:

October in the Strathbogie Ranges brings mild-to-warm days and cool nights, marking a pleasant transition into mid-spring. 

Daytime High: Around 18.0°C. 

Overnight Low: Around 5.3°C.

Extreme Variations: While typical days sit in the high teens, occasional northerly winds ahead of cold fronts can push temperatures into the mid-20s or higher, while clear nights early in the month can still dip close to freezing.

Rain and Wind:

Expect occasional spring showers and breezy days typical of the higher elevation areas in regional Victoria.

 

Convoy Driving Actions:

All participants are to observe the following at all times while 

driving in convoy:

 

-Sign on at the start of the event in case of emergency.

-Drive with low beam lights on to aid in maintaining visual contact.

-Remain in sight of the vehicle behind them.

-Use UHF channel (Announced on the day) if a UHF is onboard.

-Vehicles of lower off road performance/skill/confidence level are to be towards the front of the convoy

-At each intersection or significant marker, the second vehicle in the convoy behind the leader is to act as a running rabbit and wait at the intersection, pointing people in the right direction or identifying a hazard, Then joining the rear of the convoy just in front of the tail end.
