Sunshine Coast Water Polo Shines Bright at Queensland Country Championships

The Queensland Country Championships in Townsville concluded over the weekend, showcasing intense competition in the pool matched only by the scorching temperatures outside. It was a fantastic display of talent and camaraderie, with teams from across Queensland converging to celebrate our beloved sport.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Townsville Water Polo Association and the entire community for hosting a remarkable tournament. Congratulations are in order for all the medallists!

In the women's category, Cairns Sunshine Coast (Sunny Sharks) claimed the gold medal, showcasing their exceptional skill and teamwork. In the finals, the Sunshine Coast women, alongside Cairns Water Polo, delivered a stellar performance to secure victory against Gold Coast Water Polo with a final score of 10-8.

On the men's side, Sunshine Coast emerged victorious, earning the gold medal in an exhilarating match against Gold Coast Blue. The Sunshine Coast men's team demonstrated unwavering determination and resilience throughout the tournament, culminating in a thrilling penalty shootout victory with a final score of 12-9. Goalkeeper, Liam H earnt the unofficial MVP honors from Coach Paul C for his outstanding performance, particularly in goal-saving moments.

It was a proud moment for Sunshine Coast Water Polo as our teams showcased their skill, determination, and teamwork to claim the top honors in their respective categories. We commend all our players, coach, and supporters for their dedication and hard work, which contributed to this resounding success.
