The Sunshine Coast Hockey Association invites primary schools to take part in the 2026 Ballinger Cup Primary School Hockey Tournament.
 
The Ballinger Cup gives students the opportunity to represent their school, enjoy a fun and supportive day of hockey, and compete against other schools from across the Sunshine Coast.
With separate skilled and mixed-ability divisions, the tournament is designed to accommodate teams with different levels of playing experience.

Date: Friday 11 September 2026
Start time: 9:30 am
Location: Ballinger Sports Fields, Buderim
Age group: 7 to 12 years
Team registration fee: $50
 
Tournament format
 
Games will be played using a modified hockey format with:
  • Six players per side
  • Mixed teams with a minimum of two girls
  • No goalkeeper required
  • A skilled division and a mixed-ability division
  • Students may only represent the school in which they are currently enrolled.
 
Player requirements
All participating students must wear shin pads and a mouthguard while playing. A sports medic will be in attendance throughout the event, and canteen facilities will be available.
