What an incredible day we had at Sunbury Pickleball Club for our very first Junior Open Day on Sunday 27 September!

We had more than 35 young players registered, with some of our enthusiastic juniors coming along for both the first and second sessions! Seeing so many kids getting out on court, having fun, learning new skills and discovering pickleball was absolutely fantastic.

And it wasn't just the kids having a great time… Our parents were loving it too! Many were seeing pickleball for the very first time and were amazed at how much fun the kids were having. In fact, we had so many parents asking, “When can we have an Open Day for us?”

Well… stay tuned!

We’re already planning something very soon, so adults will get their chance to come down, have a hit and discover what all the fuss is about!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING SUPPORTERS!

A special thank you to Jacq' of all cakes of all Cakes for providing the most amazing mini cupcakes for our players and parents. They were an absolute hit... and let's be honest, they may have been almost as popular as the pickleball!

A big thank you to Blacky’s mobile coffee for keeping everyone fuelled with some fantastic coffee throughout the day.

And a massive thank you to Narelle, who volunteered her time as our First Aid Officer for the day. Tim, our President, recently trained Narelle in first aid, and having her there meant we had another fantastic volunteer looking after our juniors and helping keep everyone safe.

AND OF COURSE… OUR INCREDIBLE VOLUNTEERS!

This day simply would not have happened without the amazing people who gave up their time to help:

Sabina.....I think that's everyone

Thank you all for jumping in, helping the kids, running activities and making the day such a success!

And a very special thank you to Laura, Jodie, Jill and Tim

Many months ago, we put together a subcommittee with an idea of creating something specifically for juniors at Sunbury Pickleball Club. They have worked away quietly behind the scenes, helping plan, organise, problem-solve and bring this program to life.

Yesterday was the result of all that hard work, and seeing the kids enjoying themselves made every bit of it worthwhile.

A couple of the kids (Mackenzie and Rosie) each won a paddle worth $100 for being the most enthusiastic in each of the sessions as its not about being the best player on the day, it's about giving it your all while having a big smile on your face

DON'T FORGET OUR COLOURING COMPETITION!

Our juniors still have until 12 October to enter our colouring competition for their chance to win an AMAZING $100 PICKLEBALL PADDLE!

So get those colouring pencils out and get creative!

Thank you to every player, parent, volunteer and supporter who helped make our first Junior Open Day such a memorable one.

Thank you to the team at Promocolour for helping us with the design of our marquee.

Thank you to the Victorian Government for helping our Not for Profit club with a grant to get this program up and running and

finally thank you to Pickld for their donations with equipment to ensure the kids had an a memorable first experience playing pickleball.
