Updates from Sports and Active Recreation Sector

Published Fri 15 Oct 2021

COVID-19 Information

For fully vaccinated adults (aged 16 years and over):

The Public Health Order states that people can participate in outdoor sport and exercise at gatherings in groups of up to 20. This figure includes participants, coaches and support staff and spectators/parents.

Unvaccinated children 15 and under may participate in outdoor public gatherings for sport and exercise and count towards the total number of people (cannot exceed 20).

This will enable community sport training activities that are compliant with the Public Health Order to take place.

It is recommended organisations have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.

A child (15 years and under) is not required to be accompanied by an adult member of the household. As noted above, all adults attending the gathering must be fully vaccinated.

Please note also, to facilitate the ability to check members vaccination status’ we have added a registration field for uploading COVID-19 digital certificates, members can update this on their revSPORT profile at any time.

All the best, and we’ll keep you posted as and when we find out more.

Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Friday 15 October 2021

Good morning,

The NSW Government has made announcements this morning relating easing restrictions from Monday 18 October and the delay of travel between Greater Sydney and regional NSW until 1 November 2021.

We understand sport and recreation organisations are seeking information about the rules for community sport as NSW reaches the 80% double vaccination target and some restrictions ease from Monday.

At this point in time, the Public Health Order has not yet been released. Once the Order is released, the Office of Sport will provide advice for the sector.

The Office of Sport strongly recommends that sport and recreation organisations wait until the Public Health Order is released and further advice is provided before determining the operating requirements for your activities and communicating these requirements to your stakeholders.

Integration of vaccination status into the Service NSW app
From today, individuals will be able to add their COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service NSW app to prove vaccination status when checking in to a venue.

This will assist organisations with checking vaccination status at the same time as the QR Code check in process.

Adding your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service NSW app can be done through the Express Plus Medicare app or your Medicare online account through myGov
