Hockey SA Zone Selection Carnival – June Long Weekend
This event is an opportunity for the Whyalla Hockey Association to send junior teams away to represent our association. Additionally, this event is used to select teams to represent our ‘Zone’ at the Hockey SA Zone Championships held in Adelaide later in the year.
Our Zone, the ‘North West Ranger’ is made up of 6 Associations:
- Barossa Valley
- Clare & District
- Port Lincoln
- Port Pirie
- Whyalla
- Yorke Peninsula
2024 Event Information
The 2024 Zone Selection Carnival will be held in Barossa Valley, most likely at the Stockwell facility (locations TBC), from Saturday 8th June to Monday 10th June.
Divisions include (separate for Boys & Girls):
- Under 13
- Under 15
- Under 17

Please note: the WHA must finalise team nominations by the 13th of May.
Training for all divisions will commence on Sunday 5th May at the Whyalla Hockey Ground at 1:30pm.

Hockey SA Zone Championships
The Zone Championship bring together 5 zones from across SA to compete in an identification event for U13, U15 and U17 boys and girls, with the aim of representing SA State Teams at Hockey Australia’s National Championships / carnivals.
The 5 Hockey SA Zones:
- North West Rangers
- South East Eagles
- Eastern Saints
- Southern Storm
- Western Pirates
2024 Event Information
Details of the 2024 event are yet to be confirmed.
To attend this event, players will be required to be identified and selected at their ‘Zone Selection Carnival’. If a player is unable to attend that event, they may apply for an exemption for selection (see our North West Rangers Coordinator).

South Australian Regional Junior Hockey Championships
This is an event aimed at all the regional areas across South Australia, to provide an opportunity for these regions to send junior teams to represent their association. This is not a Hockey SA event; hence the inclusion of regions not affiliated with Hockey SA/Australia.
2024 Event Information
The 2024 SA Regional Junior Hockey Championships will be held in Naracoorte, from Saturday 5th October to Monday 7th October.
Divisions include (separate for Boys & Girls):
- Under 13
- Under 16
- Under 19
