Get involved: Volunteer with ASWA!
One of the best-kept secrets in artistic swimming? The volunteer experience. Our sport runs on a community of passionate, energetic people who show up behind the scenes, and honestly, it's one of the most rewarding things you can be part of.
Whether you're a swim parent looking to get closer to the action, a supporter wanting to learn the sport from the inside out, or simply someone who loves being part of a team, there's a role for you. No experience required, just enthusiasm!
Volunteering is a compulsory part of being an ASWA family. Every family is asked to volunteer at least twice per season, ideally during your own child's competitions or events, so you get to be part of the action and cheer them on between shifts. Every shift you do helps keep registration costs down for everyone, and your athletes love seeing you involved!
Here's a taste of what our volunteers get to do:
• Judge: Yes, you can learn to judge! ASWA runs judging courses throughout the season and we love welcoming new officials. You'll see the sport in a whole new light.
• Score: Keep the competition running smoothly as part of our scoring panel. It's fast-paced, fun, and you'll be right in the heart of the action.
• Team Manager: Travel with our squads to competitions, support the athletes and coaching staff, and be the backbone of the team on competition day.
• General event support: From set-up to pack-down, music, timing, athlete liaising and everything in between, every pair of hands makes competition days possible.
Volunteering with ASWA means you become part of something bigger — a tight-knit community that cheers each other on, learns together, and has a genuinely great time doing it. Many of our most dedicated volunteers will tell you it's a highlight of their week.
If you'd like to put your hand up, let us know at info@synchrowa.org.au and we'll match you with the right role for the season ahead. We can't wait to have you on the team!
Alongside this registration page, every family receives our 2026–27 Welcome Pack, with everything you need to get oriented for the season ahead — ASWA's programs (from AquaSTART through to the High Performance Program), the athlete pathway, key season dates, how parents can get involved (judging, scoring, team manager roles and more), and what we ask of our wonderful volunteers. Keep an eye out for it with this email, and feel free to come back to it any time during the season.
