Artistic Swimming Queensland (ASQI) is thrilled to be hosting the

2024 HANCOCK PROSPECTING Australian Artistic Swimming Championships

in partnership with Artistic Swimming Australia and Hancock Prospecting. This event will be held at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Sleeman Sports Complex, Chandler.

                                            We look forward to welcoming all competitors to Brisbane later this week!

·         Any entry changes (scratching’s, change of reserves, or appeals must be submitted in writing, paperwork is located in the Sprint room and to be handed to Kerrie at the scoring table (in front of the Sprint room).

·         Any result queries, please contact Chief Scorer, Kerrie via the WhatsApp Team Manager group. 

·         Any queries regarding the venue, please contact Meet Manager, Melissa through the WhatsApp Team Manager group

·         WhatsApp is the primary source of communication throughout the Championships and groups have been set up for

·         If you are in one of these groups, please ensure you have WhatsApp installed on your phone and accept the group invitation when received.

SPECTATOR TICKETS (PASSES)

·         Spectator Tickets (passes) can be gained at entry daily, or pre-purchased at Spectator Tickets

·         Entry fee is

o   $7.00 Adult Day Pass

o   $3.00 Child Day Pass (Under 18, under 5 are free)

o   $16.00 Adult 3 Day Pass

o   $7.00 Child 3 Day Pass (Under 18, under 5 are free)

 MUSIC PRACTICE SCHEDULE

·         Music practice schedule can be found at

    Music Practice schedule with 50m pool lane allocations

·         4 lanes in 50m pool

·         Only clubs within the group should be in the dive pool or 50m pool during the allocated times

·         Groups have been allocated 2 ½ hours either side of your warm up and music practice time (this may be before, after or a mix of before and after, dependent on where you are on the schedule to ensure equal numbers using the pool at all times to ensure athletes safety so please adhere to these times (see attached schedule).

·         Clubs within the groups only may train in the dive pool during music practice time, but must ensure they give way at all times to the athletes who are swimming to the music – respect the athletes who have right of way please.

 

 FIGURES 

·         Figure Draw will be conducted on Wednesday 1st May at 2pm.  

·         If you would like to observe the online figure draw, please request the link via email at Nationals2024@artisticswimmingqld.org.au by Tuesday 6pm.

·         Order of appearance will be distributed with figure draw or here Figures order of appearance draw

·         Please ensure your athletes are aware of their start number to assist with marshalling

·         No coaches will be permitted on deck during the Figure competition

·         The first two rows of the spectator seating in the Western Grandstand will be reserved for coaches during the figure sessions only

 POOL LAYOUT

Pool Map

·         A reminder that the Competition pool (Dive Pool) is 26m Wide (judges to judges) and 20m Long (entry point to dive tower).    Please note that the length of the pool is shorter than regular competition length so please make alterations to your routines if required.

·         Please note there is no pedestrian access between the 50m pool and dive pool.  

·         See Pool Map for athlete flow for routines

·         Only officials will have access behind the dive tower

·         All general access will be around the 50m pool, refer to Pool Map

 ATHLETE SEATING AND VIEWING

·         Athletes seating (and bags) is in the Upper Western Grandstand.  

·         Athletes are not permitted to sit in the Western Grandstand, this section is reserved for paying spectators.

CLUB BANNERS

Clubs are welcome to bring along your club banners to be displayed over the grandstand railing.

PHOTOGRAPHY

·         We have two official photographers who will be taking photos from pool deck

·          A link to these photos will be distributed once the Championships are underway

·         No flash photography is allowed

 CHEERING

We love seeing teams cheering for their teammates (and other teams) throughout the Championships.

However, we would ask that you instruct your athletes to refrain from squealing.

 PENALTIES, BASE MARKS AND APPEALS

·         A message will be sent to teams via the WhatsApp Team Manager group after each Figure session to advise teams of any penalties (or zero’s) (or to confirm that there were none).

·         A message will be sent to teams via the WhatsApp group each routine to advise of any penalties or base marks (or to confirm that there were none).  

·         Routine Message will simply state

o   club (athlete name if multiple club entries in the event)

o   Penalty and type eg. Walk on time 1pt.

o   Base mark for hybrid or acro eg. BM 4, BM6 (if a base mark on hybrid 4 and acro 6)

o   Nil if no penalty or base mark

·         Please note that all figure penalties (and zero’s), and routine penalties and base marks are unofficial when this notification goes out.  

·         When the results have been signed off by the ref, a message will be sent saying results confirmed, and will be noted if any penalties or base marks were reversed from previous advice.

·         If clubs wish to appeal a decision, ASA rules apply - see

Australian Artistic Swimming Championships Policy

o   Note ASA rule 17.0, 18.0, 19.0 and 20.0 apply

o   Please be aware that the fee to be lodged with any appeal is AU$100, refunded to team if appeal is upheld.

o   Paperwork to lodge an appeal will be found in the Sprint Room and must be completed and then handed to Chief Scorer (Kerrie) at scorer desk with the appeal fee.

o   Appeals must be lodged within 90 minutes of the WhatsApp message notification, or prior to presentations (whichever is latest).

TECHNICAL CONTROLLER FEEDBACK

·         As the championships are on a tight schedule and many of our Technical controllers are coaching as well, spare time is extremely limited so please do not approach the Technical controllers for feedback during the Championships.

·         If you have any specific questions, please email them to Nationals2024@artisticswimmingqld.org.au and as the technical controllers are taking notes, they will be able to answer your specific questions following the championships.

·         The Technical Controllers will also send out a feedback summary to all clubs after the Championships for club development and education.

 WITHDRAWALS

·         Entry withdrawals (scratching’s), please submit these on the following online form until the commencement of the championships only.

·         Scratching’s during the championships are to be submitted in person at the Notification Zone (paperwork can be found in Sprint room), to be completed and then handed to Chief Scorer (Kerrie) at scorer desk. 

CHANGE OF RESERVES

·         To be emailed to Nationals2024@artisticswimmingqld.org.au until the commencement of the championships only.

·         Change of Reserves during the championships are to be submitted in person at the Notification Zone (paperwork can be found in Sprint room), to be completed and then handed to Chief Scorer (Kerrie) at scorer desk.

COACH CARDS

·         No coach card changes are permissible.  

·         The only exception would be withdrawal of an athlete for medical reasons (or change of reserves), where the routine needs alteration.   These can be accepted up to 6pm the night before the event.

·         Please email any changes to nationals2024@artisticswimmingqld.org.au

 ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

·         No electronic equipment (including but not limited to, Kettles, Rice Cookers, Phones/laptops, sound  equipment) unless the cord has been tested and tagged.   There are NO exceptions.

GEL AND MAKE UP

·         Gel and Make Up are ONLY to be applied in the Gel Zone.  

·         Gel and Make Up are NOT to be applied in the Venue Bathrooms

·         Gel is not to be washed down sinks within the venue (please bring sufficient containers with you so that between applications the gel can dry and be peeled off the container and placed in the bins provided)

·         Mirrors are not being provided and mirrors in bathrooms are not to be used for this purpose as it limits access to sinks for other venue patrons.   Please bring a mirror for your personal use.

·         The Gel zone is a non-gender specific area, no undressing or changing is permitted in this area (please use designated bathrooms/change rooms)

·         Hot water will be provided in an urn in the Gel Zone  (reminder no electronic equipment including Kettles and rice cookers in the venue unless the cord has been tested and tagged).

VENUE AND RESPECTING OTHER PATRONS

·         We do not have exclusive use of the venue, so it would be greatly appreciated if competitors could respect other patrons and keep areas uncluttered and clear of rubbish.   

·         Please use areas as requested and respect other patrons in shared areas

WARM UP DURING CHAMPIONSHIPS

·         3 or 4 lanes of the 50m pool will be available for warm up / cool down / practice during the entirety of the competition.   Please be respectful of fellow competitors to ensure athlete safety.

·         Warm up in competition pool is restricted to the groups allocated in the schedule if listed

·         No music (unless used through headphones) to be used in any pool area or near spectators

ACCREDITATIONS

·         Accreditations must be worn at all times in accredited areas

·         There is no access to pool deck without accreditation.

·         Athletes are to have their accreditations with them at marshalling.   Coaches will return accreditations to athletes after scores are announced.

·         Coaches will not be allowed on deck to coach without the Championship Coach pool deck accreditation (this includes music practice day).  

·         If your club requires any additional accreditations other than those already applied for, this can be done via email to  nationals2024@artisticswimmingqld.org.au.  There will incur a cost of $25.

·         Lost or forgotten accreditations can be obtained from the Notification Zone at a cost of $10.

SAFETY

·         During the Championships, accredited coach(s) must be present during any warmup or practice sessions

·         A Coach must be present in the score announcement zone during their clubs events in order to signal the life guards if any athlete is in distress  (if coach is in marshalling with athlete, they will need to walk behind the dive tower the routine before to ensure they are in the score announcement zone prior to their clubs routine starting.   It is vital they are in position and we do not have to delay the routine waiting for them as the championships schedule is tight.   Thank you for your cooperation in this).     

·         A Doctor will be in attendance throughout the competition is any medical attention is required.

NEW APNEA AND DD RULES EFFECTIVE 1ST MARCH 2024 BY WORLD AQUATICS

·         The new factors will apply during the 2024 Hancock Prospecting Australian Artistic Swimming Championships,

·         The new DD rules will be enforced.

·         The new Apnea bonuses will not be applied.

·         Artistic Swimming Australia strongly encourage all clubs to adhere to the new Apnea rules for athlete safety. 

INTERNATIONAL CLUB TRAVEL INSURANCE

·         Please ensure that all participants from international clubs are covered by your clubs relevant insurance for the event and that all attendees have travel insurance.   

ENTRIES

·         Entries have been received from 5 countries, 21 clubs and a total of 242 athletes so we are looking forward to an exciting Championships.

WORKSHOP FOR JUDGES AND COACHES

·         Presenter is World Aquatics Evaluator Marlon Falcon.    Marlon was an evaluator at the Doha World Championships so is an invaluable source of the latest changes of rules.    Marlon is an exciting and interactive presenter and all feedback from 2022 was that he is an outstanding presenter and evaluator, so we are thrilled to have him here in Brisbane again.

·         Thursday 2nd May 10am to 5pm located in the Aquatic Lounge, Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

·         To be held in the Arena, Sleeman Sports Complex (see Venue Map), from 7 - 9am Friday 3rd May.

·         Please bring along your tickets to be scanned for entry.   If you do not have a ticket, we will have a list to mark you off, entry may just take a little longer.

·         Registrations are closed.

MUSIC

·         Clubs are required to bring to the event a copy of the music on USB, clearly labelled with the club name as a backup, to be handed in at the Team Manager meeting on the 3rd May.

·         It is highly recommended that the team manager has a second backup copy of the USB also, in case it is needed during the competition.

·         The Australian Artistic Swimming Championships shall be conducted in accordance with World Aquatics Rules except as varied by the Australian Artistic Swimming Championship Policy

·         A contradiction has been found in the Australian Artistic Swimming Championships Policy.   After seeking clarification from Artistic Swimming Australia, please be aware that results for the 12 Years & Under Free Combination and Youth Free Combination will be routine score only (no figure component).

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS

·         Queensland Government does not recognise working with children checks conducted outside of Queensland.

·         If you are working in Queensland in regulated child-related employment for not more than 7 days in a calendar year, you will not require a Queensland issued Working with Children Check (Blue card).

·         However, you cannot attend in any role that involves contact with athletes under 18 years of age if you are a restricted person under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.

·         Information to check if anyone attending is required to have a Blue Card, and how to obtain a Blue Card, can be found on the Blue Card Services, Qld Government website or Blue Card sporting industry fact sheet.
