Event information
The SSCBC Boat Storage Pass registers privately owned boats within the Club’s new storage system and links approved boats to an identified storage position.
Our aim is simple: make it easier for members to own, access and regularly sail their boats from Sorrento, while keeping the storage areas safe, organised and available to support an active sailing community.
There is no charge for the Boat Storage Pass.
What the system provides
-
an identified storage allocation for approved boats;
-
registration of the boat and trolley;
-
recording within the Club’s Boat and Sail Storage Map and database;
-
clearer and easier access to boats;
-
continued improvements to racks and storage areas; and
-
a fair process for managing limited Club space.
How storage works
Storage remains a shared Club resource. Members receive an allocation rather than ownership of a particular rack or position.
Where space is limited, priority will generally support boats that are actively sailed and contribute to sailing activity at SSCBC. Activity is broader than Club racing and may include training, Academy programs, regattas and genuine independent sailing from the Club.
Current membership, appropriate insurance, suitability for the available position, whether it is the member’s principal boat and waiting time may also be considered. Volunteering and Club contribution may be considered as secondary factors, but do not replace genuine boat use.
Usage information will guide decisions rather than operate as an automatic ranking system. Injury, school commitments, travel, repairs and competition campaigns will be considered sensibly, and temporary inactivity will not automatically result in the loss of storage.
Allocations should generally remain stable where use, suitability and compliance remain reasonable. They may be adjusted to improve safety, access, class organisation, utilisation or the operation of the facility.
Boats and equipment must remain identifiable, reasonably maintained, appropriately insured and stored in their allocated locations.
What you need to do
Please complete one Boat Storage Pass for each privately owned boat stored at SSCBC.
You will need:
-
the owner and sailor’s details;
-
boat name, class and sail number;
-
boat or hull identification details;
-
trolley or dolly information; and
-
current insurance details, including the policy number and expiry date.
For sailors under 18, the registration must be completed by a parent or guardian.
A new system
This is the first season of the new storage system. Our initial focus is identifying every boat, confirming allocations and improving the storage areas—not applying rigid usage requirements.
There will inevitably be a few mistakes and practical issues as the system is introduced. Please bear with us and let the Sailing Team know if any information is incorrect or an allocation creates a genuine problem.
Completing the pass registers your boat within the new system. The Club will then confirm its allocated boat and, where applicable, sail-storage position. Registration does not guarantee a particular position or create permanent ownership or entitlement to Club storage.
