3. FIREARM SAFETY COURSES

Under the Qld Weapons Act, you are required to be a member of a pistol section/club for a MINIMUM of six months before you are eligible to apply for your concealable license. The firearms safety course for Cat H MUST BE COMPLETED before you can apply for your concealable license. Bookings can be made at the range shop or office by telephone. Our qualified Instructors conduct these courses quarterly. This course may be completed during the 6 month probation period.

Upon completion of this course, you will be issued with a “STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT”.

The statement is valid for 12 months.

4. PARTICIPATION

Under the Qld Weapons Act, participation requirements are required to be met and it is the sole responsibility of the individual members to understand and ensure compliance.

Participation record cards are provided when you join and must be completed each time you attend the range for handgun shooting.

You are required to provide copies of your participation record card to your club in July each year to enable details to be submitted to the Qld Police Firearms Branch when requested.

You must retain your participation record card/s for presentation when you renew your Category H Qld Firearms Licence. It is good practice to not dispose of them at all.

You are required to participate in a minimum of 6 competition shoots per year if you have a handgun registered against your license. This is a minimum and will depend on the classes of handguns owned.
