A CHANGE TO RANGE CONDITIONS

UPDATED: 14-07-2023

Dear Members

AN UPDATE TO THE TEMPORARY CHANGE TO RANGE CONDITIONS

In February 2021 all Clubs within the Belmont Shooting Complex had been requested to implement changes to sports shooting behaviour to accommodate environmental noise assessments that are actively conducted. In consultation with key stakeholders; the SSAA Brisbane branch has been tasked with implementing measures to assist the Shooting Complex's overall footprint with noise emissions.

To achieve this goal, from 11th February 2021, SSAA Brisbane implemented a restriction on cartridges used on the rifle range (per SAMMI specification). As such, firearms used at this range will need to comply with the following new limitations;

  • Firearms will be capped to a maximum of 3200 ft/lb or 3500 fps.

Check the ballistic information printed on ammunition packaging OR refer to the reference chart below to ensure it falls within these guidelines;

  • Any firearm that exceeds noise thresholds will be prevented from use.

As the largest sports-shooting club in the state, we understand that members may be frustrated, however, it is important we work with all the clubs on the Belmont Shooting Complex to ensure compliance with all legistation and regulations relating to noise, so we can continue to offer range availability to our members.

Yours faithfully

SSAA Brisbane
