The Unplugged Mile — Sunday 27th July

At Stanthorpe Runners & Walkers, we believe running is about more than just times, splits and personal bests — it’s about connection, community, and the simple joy of moving outdoors. With that in mind, we’re excited to be hosting the second edition of The Unplugged Mile, a unique event that invites participants to test their pacing instincts without the aid of technology.

Held at The Dog Park in Gleeson Park, affectionately known by locals as the brass monkey loop, this event offers a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where speed takes a back seat to self-awareness. Participants are asked to predict their finishing time for a mystery course, which is revealed only moments before the start. Watches, phones, and GPS devices are then set aside, leaving runners and walkers to rely on their own sense of pace and rhythm.

The challenge is simple: finish as close as possible to your nominated time. The individual who does so will be crowned the winner, though prizes and spot awards ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the day.

The Unplugged Mile is open to all — whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual walker, a family looking for a fun morning activity, or someone entirely new to community running events. With a small entry fee of $2 for members and $10 for non-members, it’s an accessible and enjoyable way to engage with the local running community.
