😇 Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers
We also want to thank all the wonderful volunteers, who dug deep to spare a few hours at the club room registration desk or canteen, and the planning committee who organised everything from start to finish. Tournament Director Roger Campbell had a mammoth task set before him and did such a great job organising everyone into divisions and draws.
😷 Then came the flood of withdrawals.
A number of people were hit with sickness or injury, and even the odd spot of the dreaded COVID; all totally unavoidable when you have guests travelling from all corners of Australia and a few from overseas.
With steely determination, the state managers banded together and worked with Roger to fill in as many gaps as possible.
Then there were events, merchandise, IT requirements, and so much more to manage. Terry Brookes and Di Cook did a fabulous job coordinating some really enjoyable events, Shaun Billowes wrangled a number of sponsors, and Roger Schmidlin lent his IT expertise in setting up cameras, live-streaming and even helping with the odd bit of coding to help keep the website up to date. Sharon Gilgallon organised some fantastic merch and spent almost 24/7 at the registration desk. Helen Coyle dutifully ran a tight ship of meeting agendas and minutes, reporting and compliance. Squash WA GM Leigh-Anne Kaye crunched numbers and managed budgets, and Chair Glenn Hitch was the friendly and handsome face that kept the ship moving forward in a collaborative, captain-y sort of way.
We can’t forget the small army of officials led by the long-serving Neil Butler, who looked VERY dapper in their custom Trans-Tasman ‘Technical Official’ polos, complete with Aussie flag and NZ Silver Fern.

💰 A HUGE thank you to the sponsors.
Anyone who’s run an event would know that without sponsors for our sport, there ARE no events. Whether through donated goods or financial support, we are SO grateful for your considerable generosity, and hope we did you proud enough to support us again sometime in the near future.

As with any event, large or small, evaluation is just as important as the planning and execution phases. It helps to identify what worked and what didn't,with the data collected being an invaluable source of information for future event planning, grant applications, sponsorship negotiations and more.
We are asking you to spare 10 minutes of your time to provide some feedback about the various elements of the event, from the tournament itself, to social functions, merchandise, food and more.
Please click on the link below to be taken to the survey. All responses are anonymous unless you choose to enter your name.

Don’t forget you can view and download all the event photos here via the official event website here: https://amsc.australianmasterssquash.com.au/2025-home/. We’ve even separated them into folders for each event/function in case you’d like to find something or someone in particular.
Thank you to Joe Mihaly for giving up his time to take some absolutely SMASHING photos.

🚸 Guess what you helped Mirrabooka Squash Club do...
The Club Junior Program ran a canteen to raise enough funds to provide a brand new, custom shirt for each of the 60+ children and young people that attend their weekly program and squads. Any funds over and above that, were pledged to every West Aussie regional club that has an established junior program.
By purchasing a humble toastie or bowl of soup here and there, the club is DELIGHTED to share that you played a part in $4,000 going to grassroots squash in country WA. 😯

On a final note, remember that you can access everything you need from the official event website, including:
- All draws and results
- Souvenir Booklet
- Trans-Tasman (all three days) and Individual Championships (finals only) videos
As this will be our final newsletter, we wanted to once again extend our gratitude to each and every one of you, who contributed to the 2025 Australian Masters Squash Championships in some small (or massive!) way. We hope you had a blast and that we will see you back in Perth again soon.
Ps. We promise next time ‘sunny Perth’ will actually live up to its name! 🌞
