PSA - Carrara Open 2024

Rema Muniandy, Somerton Squash Premier League player and a proud member of Squash SA ETS, played her first professional tournament of the year at the 2024 Carrara Open on the weekend.

Rema, currently honing her skills on the Gold Coast under the guidance of national coaches Stewart Boswell and Jenny Duncalf, began the tournament with a solid first round victory against the rising junior talent, Lijana Sultana, winning in just 3 games. Her strategic play and determination set the tone for an exciting competition.

In the semifinals, Rema faced Lijana’s sister, Colette Sultana, in a thrilling match. Despite a valiant effort, Rema narrowly missed out on the finals.  The clash between Rema and Colette was a testament to the talent within Australian squash.

Undeterred, Rema bounced back and confirmed her No. 3 seeding by defeating WA’s Pascale Louka in a hard-fought contest that stretched to 4 games. Her resilience and skill were evident throughout.

Rema’s squash journey continues.  She is set to compete in the 2024 Salming Geelong Open PSA in Geelong later this week.  From there, she’ll make her way to Esperance for another event before returning home for intensive training.

We eagerly await Rema’s next moves on the court.  Her dedication and passion for the game inspires us all.
