World Masters Hockey (WMH) offers Continental Championship, Spirit of Masters (SoM) competitions for affiliated members e.g. Australian Spirits Hockey (ASH), Southern Cross, Alliance, LX England.  ASH teams may compete in a stand alone SoM competition or at the discretion of WMH may participate in a combined competition consisting of nationally selected teams and SoM teams.  Where more than one SoM team competes in an age group, teams will play for a medal.

Australian Spirits Hockey (ASH) is calling for women's masters player nominations for Spirit of Masters teams to compete at WMH European Championships for 2027.  

45+ to 70+ Women's SoM teams - competition dates and venues are not yet available.  It is possible that there will be 2 or 3 separate events due to the size of the competitions.  If so, they may be split as 45/50, 55/60, 65/70, or two age groups may be combined into one event.  For example, in 2025, the events were 45/50 in Valencia and 55-70 in Nottingham.  You will be asked which event/s you are nominating for and you may choose multiple age groups.

Player eligibility 45+ (born 1978-1982),  50+ (1973-1977), 55+ (born 1968-1972), 60+ (born 1963-1967), 65+ (born 1958-1962), 70+ (born 1953 or earlier).

A non-refundable fee of $25 is payable upon nomination.  However, should ASH be unable to form a team in your eligible age group, a refund will be made.

Nominations close Monday 14 September.  

Attendance at the Australian Championships is not the only way to be selected.  As per our Selection documentation, Australian Spirits will seek information about your playing ability from a variety of sources.  We encourage all interested players to nominate as soon as possible. 

NOTE:  Australian Spirits appreciate that information is limited and will understand if players need to withdraw once full details of events are announced. Any necessary withdrawals will not be looked upon negatively by ASH committee or the selectors and withdrawals will not impact a player’s future opportunity to be selected.  No refunds will be made unless Australian Spirits are unable to form a team in your age group.

A $50 Acceptance fee will be due and payable from all selected players by Monday 2 November.

Australian Spirits Tour Levy is expected to be $1,000 and includes:  Off Field Team costs, World Masters Team Entry fees, Travelcall fees, Team culture and training, and potentially ground transport.  For more please refer to our Touring Guide – link below.

Current and past Australian Player Eligibility
Each Australian Spirits team may include an unlimited number of players who are selected in the 2027 Trans Tasman Challenge teams and a maximum of 5 players who represented in Australian teams (not Australia 2 teams) in 2026 World Cup.
