SailPASS – Try Sailing with SYC
At Southport Yacht Club, we make it easy and affordable to experience sailing and enjoy our Club facilities without committing to an annual membership.
Our SailPASS Membership gives you the opportunity to join as crew in our Twilight Racing Program and get out on the water on the beautiful Gold Coast.
Crewing Opportunities
Crewing opportunities are available as part of our Twilight Racing Program:
- Wednesdays – Hollywell Sailing Squadron
Arrive between 2:30pm – 3:00pm - Thursdays – Main Beach Yacht Club
Arrive between 1:30pm – 2:00pm
On arrival, please check in with reception.
When you are a Southport Yacht Club Member or an Affiliated Club Member with an Australian Sailing Number, you will need to purchase a SailPASS prior to 10:00am on the day of sailing.
What is SailPASS?
SailPASS is a low-cost, day membership designed to introduce you to sailing and allow you to experience SYC before committing to a full membership.
SailPASS Inclusions
- Access to all SYC Clubhouses and facilities for the day
- Temporary Australian Sailing number providing Personal Injury Insurance for the day
Additional Information
- You must be 16 years or older to purchase a SailPASS
- You must be physically able and have good balance
- Previous Sailing experience is prefered
- SailPASS is $20 per day
- You may purchase up to six (6) SailPASSes before applying for full Sailing Membership
- SailPASS participants are capped at 5 people on Thursdays
- SailPASS must be purchased before 10:00am on the day of sailing
Participants who complete the Adult Learn to Sail (Start Sailing 1 & 2) course receive 3 complimentary SailPASSes, valid for 3 months.

Crew positions are not guaranteed and are subject to availability on the day.
