INDOOR SOFTBALL TERM 1 RECAP – TIGERS TAKE THE WIN!

What a cracker of a season it's been for our first term of indoor softball! With three teams, plenty of laughs, a bit of friendly sledging, and some genuine skill on display, the final game was the cherry on top.

GRAND FINAL: Tigers (Black) vs Saints (Red)

Final score: Black 23 def Red 18

It all came down to the big dance — Tigers in black against the ever-competitive Saints in red. For the first time all season, coach Nathan and speedster Hobbo stepped onto the mound to pitch a full game. Both delivered with a solid effort — minimal walks, plenty of strikes, and more than a few “catch it!” moments as balls were pinged straight to fielders.

Red didn’t go quietly. Their fast pitching kept things tight, with the Saints clawing their way to a 3-run lead heading into the final innings. But the Tigers weren’t done. Enter Blake Mason and Lucy Weatherstone, who sparked a last-gasp rally with clever batting and gutsy base running. Bronte Craig brought it home with the go-ahead run, and Nathan Haddrick sealed the win with the final score of the match.

TIGERS ROAR THROUGH TERM 1

The Seacombe Tigers team brought flair, fire, and the occasional funny moment. With Bronte, Lucy, Taylor and coach Nathan forming the core, the Tigers also brought in footy boys Blake and Hobbo, whose athleticism and enthusiasm made them instant fan favourites. Lucy and Bronte were rocks at first base, taking outstretched catches like pros, while Taylor and Lucy shared pitching duties all season — until the boys gave it a crack in the final.

SAINTS SHOW CLASS

The Saints (Red) — mostly made up of Southern Districts players — were sharp from week one. With big bats, fast pitching, and growing confidence, they quickly learned the fine art of tactical softball: when to stretch a double, when to sit tight, and how to pull off smart plays to hold back runners. They gave the Tigers a real scare in the final and had a solid run all term.

THE GREENS GET GOING

New to the game but full of heart, Team Green lived up to their name — fresh faces who improved out of sight. From surprise catches to clutch hits, their semi-final performance nearly knocked out the Saints (just 4 runs in it!). They’ll be back, better and hungrier.

SHOUTOUTS

Massive thanks to Brianne Lint for keeping everything running smoothly each week, and to umpire Kaelyn Mountford, whose ability to balance fairness, fun and fake outrage made her a crowd favourite.
