The course covers

• theory and case studies
• some theory in heavy weather sailing (droges, trisails, hove-to, etc)
• hands-on comparisons of the various safety equipment (life jackets, tethers)
• experience lighting different types of flares (orange smoke, red, white)
• 1/2 day in the pool with safety equipment (fully clothed + wet weather gear).
• opened 10 person SOLAS life raft in the pool

The course venues will be Newport Mirage Hotel on Saturday, Warringah Aquatic Centre on Sunday morning, and Club Totem in Balgowlah on Sunday afternoon.
